Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum is located in LondonSouth Kensington,Adjacent to the science museum and the Victoria and Albert MuseumThe museum displays approx. 70 million exhibits on Earth's history and biological evolution, ranging from samples collected by Darwin during his research on evolutionary theory to Jurassic-era dinosaur fossils, as well as various plant, animal, and geological specimens. Museum introduction The museum's exterior is quite magnificent, with its intricate and exquisite carvings on the outer walls, windows, and interior, which are truly awe-inspiring. The Victorian-style architecture resembles a grand cathedral, earning it the nickname "cathedral of nature." The museum houses 20 large exhibition halls, covering themes such as botany, entomology, mineralogy, paleontology, and zoology. Many of the collections hold great historical and scientific value. Museum facilities The museum exhibitions are highly entertaining, featuring various interactive facilities such as weight-comparison testers, giant fetal models, and hands-on gadgets, making visits both fun and educational for adults and children alike. Additionally, the museum regularly organizes a variety of lecture activities to popularize natural science knowledge. Star exhibits Stepping through the main entrance into the soaring central hall, visitors are greeted by the 20 m-long skeleton of a blue whale named "Hope" suspended overhead. This genuine specimen came from a blue whale stranded in Ireland in 1891. In summer 2017, it replaced "Dippy" - the plaster cast diplodocus skeleton that had guarded the hall since 1905 for nearly forty years, whose departure sparked public petitions to keep it. Now a bronze version of Dippy named "Fern" stands in the museum garden, marking its return in another form. On the left is the museum's highly popular dinosaur exhibition hall, mainly displaying paleontological fossil specimens such as ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, the massive Tyrannosaurus rex, the tiny-complexed Scansoriopteryx, the long-tailed pterosaurs, and a complete Archaeopteryx skeleton. On the right are modern animals, including marine invertebrates, fish, birds, and reptiles, with the bird exhibits being particularly outstanding. Above the staircase leading to the second floor in the hall, there is also a statue of Darwin. Second floor of the museum On the second floor, there is a two-story-high mammal exhibition hall, where the most eye-catching features are the giant whale skeletons and models suspended in the air, including a particularly striking model of a Blue Whale. The displays of African savanna animals and Australian marsupials are also impressive. Additionally, there are exhibition halls for minerals, rocks, gems, and marble, where you can see the Delhi Purple Sapphire, a prized museum artifact that was sealed away for decades before being publicly displayed again. This gem is said to carry a "curse," as its successive owners allegedly suffered disasters or sudden misfortunes. From the arched bridge in the middle of the second floor, you can overlook the museum's interior view. The third floor houses exhibits of modern and fossilized plants. Other areas like the Darwin Centre and the Earth Hall are equally fascinating, and a full tour is recommended to take about half a day.London · 29 km from Slough

Hyde Park

Hyde Park is located northwest of Buckingham Palace and is one of the major royal parks in central London. The park features lush trees and an expansive lake, which is divided into two parts by the Serpentine. The west side of the lake connects to Kensington Gardens. When the weather is nice, many Londoners come here to run, cycle, or take a walk. The park has dedicated cycling paths, and you can also rent a bicycle for a leisurely tour. The main entrance on the southeast side of the park features Wellington Arch. Entering from here and walking a short distance west, you will see the Serpentine. Mute swans swim leisurely in the lake, while pigeons and birds frequently skim across the water, and squirrels are often seen on the lawns. Walking west along the south bank of the Serpentine, you can see the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain—it is shaped like an undulating, circular granite water channel, resembling a necklace lying on the green grass. The shallow water flows continuously, passing through different water states such as cascades, eddies, and bubbling springs, and visitors can walk into the fountain to splash around. Marble Arch on the northeast side of the park is another entrance. Nearby, Speakers' Corner is a well-known public forum in London that allows people to give speeches on the street. The park is also dotted with various commemorative sculptures and bridleways—this sandy horse track is approx. 1,384m long. Occasionally, you can see horse trainers leading horses past, which adds a unique charm to the center of London.London · 29.8 km from Slough

As one of the oldest and largest public museums in the world, the British Museum has a rich collection spanning millions of years of history, from ancient Egyptian mummies to ancient Greek sculptures, from Chinese porcelain to Indian Buddha statues, all of which are breathtaking. In addition, London also has many distinctive museums, such as the Natural History Museum, whose huge dinosaur skeletons and rich animal and plant specimens make people feel as if they are in the wonders of the natural world; the Victoria and Albert Museum, with its exquisite collection of artworks and designs, shows the infinite possibilities of human creativity. The British Museum: As one of the world's most renowned museums, it houses a vast collection of precious artifacts from across the globe. Big Bus Tours London

Big Bus Tours London is an open-top double-decker sightseeing bus in London, featuring a hop-on hop-off experience: with a ticket, travelers can freely board and alight at any stop along the route, connecting scattered city landmarks into a customizable tour itinerary, ideal for first-time visitors to London who want to cover major attractions in a short time. The bus is equipped with a multilingual audio guide, and sitting on the upper deck while listening to the commentary and enjoying the street views is part of the journey's charm. There are three routes: red, blue, and green. The red line focuses on the classic central section, linking Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, the London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, and Tower Bridge, with most of old London's iconic scenes concentrated along this route. The blue line runs east-west, from Kensington Palace, Harrods, and the South Kensington museum cluster (Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Science Museum) in the west, through Hyde Park, Notting Hill, and Baker Street (near Madame Tussauds and the Sherlock Holmes Museum), all the way to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge in the east. The green line serves more as a connector, linking stations around King's Cross, St. Pancras, and Euston, passing through Bloomsbury and the British Museum, making it convenient for travelers staying in the northern part of the city to transfer to the red or blue lines downtown. On-site tips: headphones are available for free upon boarding; by regulation, the sightseeing bus cannot stop directly at Buckingham Palace's main gate, but it's just a few minutes' walk from nearby stops—check in advance if you want to see the Changing of the Guard, as it doesn't occur daily; the front seats on the upper deck offer expansive views, especially great for photos when passing Westminster and Tower Bridge; if you stay on the bus without hopping off, the red line takes about two and a half hours to complete, while the blue line is longer—consider splitting the tour if you have limited stamina.London · 32.7 km from Slough

We spent hours exploring the halls, marveling at the massive dinosaur fossils, shimmering gemstone collections, and interactive earth science exhibits. It's one of those places where you can easily get lost in wonder, no matter how many times you visit. 🙂

Highly recommended for amusement park lover. Hyperia is one of the most popular roller coaster and it definitely worth the queue. Can’t wait to go again once the park reopens next year.

Traveling with a family member who had just undergone surgery, I initially thought staying in a hotel would be somewhat compromised, but I was completely moved by the thoughtfulness hidden in the details. True quality is revealed in the small things; meticulous service embodies the highest level of hospitality. During check-in, the staff noticed my family member's mobility issues and, without us even asking, proactively moved the room to the closest position to the elevator. They had already padded all the sharp table corners, laid two layers of non-slip mats in the bathroom, and ensured the handrails were at the perfect height for my elderly relative to get up. Throughout the trip, they didn't explicitly emphasize "what we did for you," yet they always appeared when needed: when my family member wanted warm porridge, the kitchen quickly brought out a bowl of perfectly cooked, soft millet porridge, the temperature just right; upon returning from a walk, we found a lightweight folding wheelchair at the door. There was no unnecessary sales pitch, no excessive intrusion. This just-right sense of proportion is the highest form of gentleness and respect; this unassuming care is more reassuring than any deliberate enthusiasm.

Unable to leave the West End musical *The Phantom of the Opera* in London's West End with a peaceful feeling. Finally seated in the middle of the first floor of the theater for *The Phantom of the Opera*, I felt instantly immersed in the atmosphere even before the show began. The performance was breathtaking, with its ever-changing plot and scenes, stunning stage design and props, and captivating performances. It's definitely a world-class musical worth seeing! When the giant chandelier crashed down, and *The Music of the Night* began, I was instantly transported to the dark, shadowy world beneath the Paris Opera House. The Phantom isn't just a villain; he's a musical genius abandoned by the world, pursuing love and ideals with an almost obsessive passion. Love isn't about imprisonment or possession; letting go is the ultimate tenderness. Behind the mask lies a lonely, broken soul. The Curtain Call was met with thunderous applause. This is the West End's never-ending Gothic romantic tragedy. #WestEndLondon #PhantomOfTheOpera #Musical

As a fan of the second home team, to be honest, I was not as excited as going to Anfield. However, the old lady who entertained and explained the game was a bonus. She told a lot of jokes about the two London powerhouses that only football fans can understand. In addition, you can see the famous Matthew Harding Stand and freeze the picture of yourself walking into the stadium. The most tearful thing is the wall of honor, where Terry, Lampard, Cech, and earlier Zola, White, etc. are there. Unfortunately, there is no Mourinho on the wall.

Hyde Park is one of London’s most iconic green spaces and a wonderful place to relax in the heart of the city. The park offers beautiful walking paths, open lawns, scenic gardens, and the famous Serpentine Lake, creating a peaceful escape from the busy streets nearby. I enjoyed strolling through the tree-lined avenues, watching people paddle on the lake, and taking in the tranquil atmosphere. Whether you want to have a picnic, go for a jog, enjoy outdoor events, or simply unwind, Hyde Park provides something for everyone and remains one of London’s most beloved attractions.

Families with children can go without worry; it's worth the trip. It feels about the same size as the Beijing Zoo. The emphasis on close encounters with the animals is truly excellent; it was the closest I've ever seen penguins in my life. The butterfly enclosure, with butterflies fluttering right next to you, is also fantastic.

Worth a try! Hop-on and hop-off buses and Thames River cruises offer great value for money. With good time management, you can explore various London attractions and cityscapes. However, the Big Bus red, blue, and green lines are somewhat complicated, and the actual stops differ from the app, so pay close attention and do your research. Remember to download the Big Bus app; it will be helpful for your trip.
