Lanzarote Island

Lanzarote Island

5.9
Lanzarote Island is a volcanic island in the middle east of the Canary Islands in the province of Las Palmas, Spain. With its unique volcanic landforms, the integration of art and nature, and the concept of sustainable ecological development, the island has become one of the most distinctive tourist destinations in the region. Lanzarote Island is much more than a sunny beach resort. It is a living museum of the power of the earth and a stunning canvas left behind by a volcanic eruption. This island, where desolation and vitality coexist and nature and art dance together, is not famous for its dense forests or golden beaches in the traditional sense, but for its otherworldly and unique volcanic landforms, and the artistic practice of harmonious coexistence of human wisdom and natural wonders, which attracts travelers from all over the world. This is an island reshaped by volcanoes, enlightened by artists, and carefully cared for.Lanzarote · 3.3 km from Teguise

The Cactus Garden

Located in the volcanic rock formations of Lanzarote, Jardin de Cactus was built by local artist Cesar Manrique from an abandoned quarry. The park features a radial terraced layout and is planted with cacti of various shapes. The low walls made of white volcanic stone form a visual contrast with the dark lava background. In the center, an 18th-century stone windmill is preserved, and its wooden blades can still turn with the wind. The trail system in the park guides visitors to observe cactus species from different continents, and some areas simulate desert ecology to set up sandy microenvironments. It is recommended to choose the early morning hours to avoid strong light, when dew often condenses on the tips of cactus thorns. The neighboring village of Guatiza continues the traditional volcanic rock farming method, and the surrounding vineyard protective walls cultivated with black volcanic ash can be seen. The park combines land art and ecological display functions and can be reached by driving north along the LZ-1 highway from Arrecife, the capital of the island. Visitors can combine the trip to Timanfaya Volcano Park with a visit to the local wine cellar converted from volcanic tubes. The park store offers local handicrafts made from woven cactus fibers.Guatiza · 8.4 km from Teguise

Located on the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands of Spain, Timanfaya National Park is a national park famous for its unique volcanic landforms and magnificent natural landscapes. The landforms of Timanfaya National Park were mainly formed by volcanic eruptions in the early 18th century, which shaped the present-day volcanic cones, lava flows and craters. Due to the high surface temperature, pouring water on the ground will form steam fountains, which is a unique geothermal landscape. One of the popular attractions in the park is the "Volcano Road", where visitors can take a special tourist bus to tour along this route and enjoy the spectacular volcanic landscape in the park. Timanfaya National Park is not only a natural wonder, but also a protected area dedicated to protecting its unique ecosystems and geological features. In short, Timanfaya National Park, characterized by its unique volcanic landforms and rich geological activities, provides visitors with the opportunity to explore the natural forces of the earth.Yaiza · 22.3 km from Teguise

Had a fantastic day at Aqua Park Lanzarote! The slides were great fun, there was plenty to do for both adults and children, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day. The park was clean, well-organised, and the queues were reasonable. A brilliant way to spend a day in Lanzarote and definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for some family fun and excitement. Would happily come back again!

Cross the Puente de las Bolas, a small drawbridge with two cannonballs on top of its pillars and you will arrive on the Castillo de San Gabriel (Castle of Saint Gabriel), it is located on a tiny island called Islote de los Ingleses (Islet of the English).

The Timanfaya National Park is very interesting to see. Timanfaya is the only active volcano in Lanzarote. You can arrive by car there; but the visit (around 2,5 h) will be by bus (it is not free, but cheap), with a guide. The volcanic landscapes are amazing!
