Atmospheric Tbilisi: What's hidden in the Rezo Gabriadze Tower? 🗺️
This iconic Tbilisi tower leaves a stunning impression and seems like a living set for an old fairy tale. To ensure your visit here is a success, I'll share a few helpful observations:
🔔 Timing. You can catch a short puppet show at the very top at 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Since the pedestrian street here is quite narrow, it's best to arrive 15 minutes in advance to secure a comfortable vantage point.
🔍 Hidden details. While examining the mosaics on the walls, try to spot the microscopic tower clock—it's only the size of a coin. And nearby, notice the heavy wooden bench, securely chained with a huge chain. This is a famous ironic joke by Rezo Gabriadze himself.
📸 Photo angle. If you stand too close, the building simply won't fit in your phone's lens. To capture the full height, move back a bit and to the left, standing with your back practically to the opposite building.
☕ A cozy break. The café next to the theater has a captivating interior; it's a lovely place to stop for a cup of aromatic coffee. If you're planning a full lunch, head down the nearby side streets—you'll find excellent khachapuri there for half the price.
