Son Doong Cave

Son Doong Cave

2.9
4.7/5
8 reviews
Son Doong Cave is one of the world's largest caves. Unless you enter Son Doong Cave, you cannot imagine how massive it truly is—the main cavern alone could accommodate a 40-story skyscraper. Inside the cave, there are areas that are home to forests of giant stalagmites, which grow wildly until they reach the 80m high cave ceiling. Additionally, an area filled with numerous cave pearls has been discovered inside, with some as large as soccer balls and others the size of softballs. They are formed over thousands of years by water droplets falling from the cave ceiling, hitting the cave floor, and splashing up tiny limestone particles. This slow, gradual process is truly wondrous, which is why explorers often marvel that "finding cave pearls is a stroke of luck." Sunlight streams in through the collapsed cave ceiling, and the underground river provides ample moisture, allowing various plants to thrive everywhere and form dense jungles. The rushing underground river has even carved out silvery, miniature beaches within the massive cave. Son Doong Cave can be described as an underground adventure paradise filled with endless secrets, with many mysterious things still waiting to be discovered. Visiting here is both an adventure and a great place to relax.Thuong Trach · 16.4 km from downtown

My Khe Beach

4.6/5
920 reviews
My Khe Beach stretches along the coastal Vo Nguyen Giap Road and can be reached in just over ten minutes by car from the city center, making it a representative urban beach in Da Nang. Its fine, white sand, gentle slope, and clear water are what have drawn tourists here for years. Unlike many beaches far from the city, one side here is lined with resort hotels, cafes, and seafood stalls, while the other side offers expansive views of the sea and sky, with only a road separating the city from the ocean. In the early morning, the sun slowly rises from the horizon, painting the sea gold. In addition to strolling on the beach and taking in the ocean views, you can also rent a lounge chair to sunbathe. There are also water activities here such as jet skiing, banana boating, and parasailing.Vietnam · Da Nang

Nui Son Tra

Nui Son Tra is located northeast of Da Nang and is also known as Nui Son Tra or Monkey Mountain. The peninsula extends from the shore into the sea, its mountain mass acting as a natural barrier that shields Da Nang from the wind and waves coming from the sea. Today, it is designated as a nature reserve, with large areas of well-preserved primeval forest, and is also an important habitat for the endangered red-shanked douc langur. Linh Ung Pagoda on the southern hillside of the peninsula is a must-visit stop for many tourists. The nearly 70m-tall standing statue of Guanyin in front of the temple faces the sea and can be seen from many corners of downtown Da Nang. Standing on the temple platform, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the city and the bay. Continuing north along the mountain road, you can also find a giant banyan tree said to be 1,000 years old, with aerial roots hanging to the ground and a dense canopy like a cover. When the weather is clear, you can climb to the summit, where an observation deck converted from an old US military helipad offers a wide view, taking in the city, the beach, and the distant sea. The island loop road follows the coastline around the peninsula, and riding a motorcycle or taking a self-drive tour is a common way to enjoy the scenery here.Vietnam · Da Nang

Japanese Covered-Bridge was built in 1593, initially by the Japanese, and rebuilt by the Chinese during the Ming Dynasty in China, with a stele erected as proof. The red paint on the wood has peeled off, similar to many ancient Chinese bridges. Interestingly, one end of the bridge is guarded by a monkey, and the other by a dog, said to be because construction began in the Year of the Monkey and was completed in the Year of the Dog. The bridge is less than 2m wide, with rusty, round iron railings on both sides, and no particularly decorative carvings. There is an exhibition room in the middle of the covered bridge, where bright yellow French-style buildings and tall coconut trees are reflected on the river surface, along with the afterglow of the sunset, creating a quiet and harmonious scene.Vietnam · Da Nang

The Han River in Da Nang is one of the well-known rivers in Vietnam. During the day, the Han River is quiet and peaceful. When night falls, the lights along the banks are lit up, and the Han River shows another style. Several bridges such as the Dragon Bridge span the Hanjiang River and connect the two banks. It is very suitable for taking a cruise to enjoy the scenery of the Hanjiang River. The most famous one on the Han River in Da Nang is the Dragon Bridge. Every weekend, the dragon mouth will spray water mist and fire. Also known as Son Thuy Cave. It was once selected by the media as one of the three most beautiful attractions in Vietnam. Son Thuy Cave is the largest known underground cave in the world and is believed to be at least two to five million years old. Surprisingly, this huge cave has remained hidden from the world until 2009, when Vietnam opened up to international tourists to adventure here. Advance booking is essential. Son Thuy Cave is a huge cave. There are underground rivers, dense jungles and various diverse creatures inside. People can even camp here overnight. It stretches for more than 5 kilometers.

My Khe Beach is one of Da Nang's most beautiful beaches, with soft white sand and crystal-clear water. I highly recommend visiting early in the morning, around sunrise, when the weather is cool, the sea is calm, and the beach is peaceful. It's the perfect time for a refreshing swim, a relaxing walk, or watching local people start their day. The fresh atmosphere and stunning sunrise make the experience truly unforgettable.

Son Tra Peninsula in Da Nang is an absolutely underrated tourist destination. Besides its stunning coastline and lush primeval forests, the peninsula boasts numerous historical sites, including the ruins of French colonial fortifications and the former site of a radar station used by the US military during the Vietnam War. Visitors can explore the French-style churches and monuments on the western side of the peninsula on foot or by bicycle, experiencing the historical imprints of different eras. Of course, combining this with the Linh Ung Pagoda makes it an even more exceptional destination.

Dragon Bridge in Da Nang is not just a bridge- it's a spectacular show and one of the city's brightest highlights. It looks especially beautiful in the evening, with colorful lights, reflections on the Han River, and a lively, festive atmosphere

The atmosphere is top-notch, transporting you to another era. The various shops selling silk, souvenirs, and leather create the atmosphere of two hundred years ago. The town is decorated with lanterns. I understand that this mountain had strong Chinese and Japanese communities, so the town is colorful, full of tourists and food, like any market town. I downgraded my rating because of the crowds. But if you come in the morning or afternoon, you'll avoid them. I really enjoyed everything; I truly enjoyed shopping and exploring. But beware of cyclists.

A magical encounter in Da Nang city for travelers, to actually witness this historical building, that is very unique in its architectural features, and its pastel coat. During its opening hours, visitors are welcomed to roam inside, at the front yard, to get a closer look. The best time to go would be in the morning, or just before sunset in the evening, when the color of the building gets really soft and beautiful.
