Things to do in Trier

Trier, which is in southwest Germany and close to Luxembourg, is the oldest city in Germany and was an important administrative center for the Western Roman Empire. The city is very walkable, and I was able to get everywhere on foot with the help of Google Maps. A full, packed day is enough to cover the major sites and take in the many fascinating ancient Roman ruins. I managed to tour the Porta Nigra, which was a city gate and later a church - Trier is a must-visit for European history buffs and UNESCO World Heritage site lovers!

As the sun sets, the oblique sunlight covers the Trier Cathedral with a golden coat, making this ancient Roman Gothic building from the fourth century AD particularly dazzling. The interior of the church is also very exquisite.

The baths were built in the 4th century and were the royal baths of the time. They were quite large in scale. Unfortunately, the Caesar Baths were not completed and were never put into use.

This is a local square, very beautiful, and there are many famous attractions, which is very nice.

The Roman Bridge went through three construction stages. It was built in 16 BC at the same time as the city of Trier. At that time, 16-year-old rubber trees were used as bridge pillars across the Moselle River (a river in northeastern France and western Germany); now it is an ancient bridge building in the northern Alps.
