Waitangi, about 3 kilometers away from the town of Paihir, is one of New Zealand's more important historical sites. In 1840, the British royal family and more than 500 Maori chiefs signed the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand's founding document, here. Today, the treaty signing site provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about Maori culture and historical events related to the signing of the treaty. You can visit the Treaty House; you can also see the carved marae and one of the largest surviving Maori war canoes; and at the visitor center, you can watch entertaining and informative explanations. Waitangi is not only a great place to learn about New Zealand's history, but it's also a beautiful area worth exploring. Treaty House stands proudly within an open, peaceful parkland, with stunning views from the semi-formal gardens surrounding Treaty House to the 6km forest walk to Haruru Falls. On the coastline, you have a panoramic view of the ever-changing bay scenery. You can see warriors, whalers, sailors and New Zealand settlers constantly coming and going here.Waitangi · 83m from downtown

The Bay of Islands not only preserves ancient buildings built by Maori and Europeans, but also inhabits a wealth of marine life such as dolphins, seals, and seabirds. Because the water is warm all year round, it is also a paradise for water sports lovers. 1. Geographical location of the Bay of Islands The Bay of Islands is located at the northern tip of New Zealand. There are 144 small islands in this sea area, including Opua, Paihia, Russell and Kerikeri. Kerikeri and many other small towns, as well as a large offshore island between Cape Brett and the Purerua Peninsula. 2. The central area of Paihia takes a car from Auckland to the Bay of Islands, passing through lush fields, dense woods, rolling beaches and quaint idyllic towns, and then arrives at the seaside town of Paihia, which is located in the Bay of Islands. heartland. Russell, which is full of romantic and classical atmosphere, is also not to be missed, and you can take a ferry from Paihia to and from it. The small town of Russell preserves monuments such as the Catholic monastery built in 1839. 3. Going to the island and visiting the island is a better way to explore the bay of islands. You can rent a sea kayak to swim in the bay, you can also sunbathe, swim, snorkel, and even go to the uninhabited island to catch crabs and fishing. There are a number of tour operators offering a variety of day trips, such as to Cape Brett Lighthouse at the northern end, to attractions such as "Holein the Rock", as well as hiking, sun-kissing, camping and more on the island. It is worth mentioning that there are opportunities to see dolphins in the Bay of Islands all year round, and when the conditions are right, you can also swim with dolphins. 4. Famous places for diving In addition, the Bay of Islands is also a good place for diving. On the bottom of DeepWaterCove Bay near Cape Brett, the 113-meter-long New Zealand Navy frigate "HMNZSCanterbury" (HMNZSCanterbury) sank. Its top is just 10 meters underwater, and it can be seen even just snorkeling. Maori people have many traditions and customs, such as the well-known nose-touching ceremony. In addition, the Maori war dance is also the essence of Maori cultural performances, and the brave warrior sticks out his tongue to show his determination!

From the marina you can arrange trips to the outer islands, go on fishing expeditions or catch a ferry to Russell. Local adventures include cruising the caves at Bennett Head, looking for dolphins (and perhaps swimming with them) and sea kayaking trips.

This glowworm cave is built on Maori private land and is managed by a family business. It is not so particular. Although the scale and facilities are not as good as Waitomo, it has its own characteristics. You can observe cave glowworms up close. This is the first time I have seen cave glowworms that look like tiny worms. They are completely different from the flying glowworms in Malaysia. The glowworms in Waitomo are too far away and you can't see the glowworms themselves. Therefore, this glowworm cave is definitely worth seeing.
