Obereggen Ski Center

5.4
Obereggen Ski Center is nestled in the Dolomites. Starting from the village of Obereggen at an altitude of 1,500m, it connects 31km of ski runs across the Latemar massif via a year-round cable car system. This ski center is part of the large European ski alliance Dolomiti Superski, and with a pass, you can access 1,200km of surrounding ski runs. The Latemar viewing platform at an altitude of 2,100m is a must-visit spot for geological wonders. Non-skiers can take the panoramic gondola directly to the Cigolade mountain hut or experience the 3km moonlight snowshoeing trail. The ski area retains its original log-structure ski school built in 1967, with hand-painted trail maps by generations of instructors hanging on the exterior walls. As a prime example of the symbiosis between natural heritage and ski culture, it creates a unique mountain vacation experience through a delicate balance of Alpine tradition and modern facilities.Obereggen · 5 km from Welschnofen

Dolomites are located in the southern foothills of the Alps and are renowned for their unique dolomite landscape. Unlike other mountain ranges in the Alps, the mountains here are primarily composed of dolomite, with vertical fractures in the rock forming jagged ridges and steep cliffs. At sunrise and sunset, the dolomite reflects warm hues ranging from pink to deep red. This light phenomenon is known as alpenglow, and it is one of the natural phenomena of the Dolomites. Multiple iconic landscapes are distributed along the mountain range: the jagged ridge of Seceda pierces the sky, with alpine meadows spreading out at its feet; the three massive rock peaks of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo rise abruptly, forming the iconic skyline of the Dolomites. Summer is the primary season for hiking, with numerous trails crossing alpine meadows and pine forests, dotted with family-run mountain huts along the way for rest and dining. In winter, the Dolomites transform into a ski destination, with ski slopes connecting multiple valleys. The entire region blends Italian and Austrian culture, with architectural styles featuring characteristics of both.Rocca Pietore · 22.4 km from Welschnofen

Alpe di Siusiis a vast alpine meadow stretching across a plateau. Unlike the sharp, jagged peaks common in the Dolomites, the terrain here is gentle and open, with traditional wooden huts and herds of cattle scattered among the rolling green waves of grass. To the west are uniquely shaped peaks, while to the east stand towering, grayish-white rock walls. The magnificent panorama, surrounded by mountains, creates a unique landscape. Trails crisscross the plateau, featuring both gentle loop routes and paths that lead deep into the heart of the pastures, with wooden huts along the way serving local specialty cheeses and wine. On sunny days, cloud shadows sweep across the meadows, making for a pleasant scene. Traditional alpine grazing customs have long been preserved here. In early summer, wildflowers bloom, and in the fall, the traditional scene of herders driving cattle down the mountain showcases a rich pastoral charm. In the early morning, mist drifts over the grassy slopes, while in the evening, the sunset dyes the rock walls in warm colors. This place is suitable for all seasons: spring and summer are perfect for hiking and cycling, while in winter, it transforms into a vast ski area, showcasing a rich and diverse mountain landscape.Castelrotto · 14 km from Welschnofen

Staying near Ortisei, I went to Blade's Edge Mountain first, then drove 36 minutes to the P2 parking lot of the Hughes Plateau. I parked there for less than 3 hours and was charged 28.5 euros. Then I walked to the popular spot to take pictures of the sunrise on the Golden Mountain. It was super beautiful, but a little difficult to walk. It was about 8 kilometers round trip and took a total of 2 hours. Don't drive on the road inside, otherwise you will encounter a sky-high ticket. There was a 👮 who kept an eye on every foreign vehicle along the way. It was beautiful.

Trentino-Alto Adige is the northernmost region of Italy, bordering Austria. The Southern Alps cover a large part of the region. In addition to industries such as wine, dairy products, and papermaking, tourism is an important source of income. The natural scenery here is beautiful, especially the famous ski resort in winter.
