Wuma Street is a famous commercial street in Wenzhou. It is located in the southern part of the ancient city of Wenzhou. It starts from Jiefang South Road in the east and borders Cicada Street in the west. It has a total length of 424 meters and is full of various shops. When the great calligrapher Wang Xizhi was the county watchman in Yongjia (an ancient name of Wenzhou), he often drove a carriage with five horses in parallel, hence the name of Wuma Street. When Wuma Street was rebuilt, it retained the original Chinese and Western architectural style, as well as the Wuweihe non-staple food shopping mall, Jinsanyi silk cloth shop, and Laoxiangshan pharmacy. The sculptures on the whole street are very distinctive, and the design of the buildings is also very westernized.Wenzhou · 4.2 km from downtown

Wutian Old Street is a historical and cultural block built along the Wenrui Tanghe River, spanning the east and west sections of theTanghe River. This area was formerly known as "Wutian Market." During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it became a distribution center for agricultural and sideline products thanks to the water transport of theTanghe River. Shops were set up along the river, and merchant ships docked at the wharves for trade. The arcades, wharves, and alleys from the 1980s are memories for many older Wenzhou residents. Today, the old street has been renovated to recreate old Wenzhou street scenes, such as banyan pavilions, Dong'ou Academy, water streets and markets, and intangible cultural heritage crafts. The architecture of the block continues the traditional style of the arcade-style residences on both banks of the Wenrui Tanghe River, with green bricks, dark tiles, and a subdued color palette. The gables use old green bricks from the sites of former Wenzhou residences, and wooden components like doors and windows were hand-carved by woodcarving masters, featuring delicate patterns of flowers, birds, fish, and insects. The internal river system divides the block into multiple island areas surrounded by waterways, with small bridges, wharves, and alleys crisscrossing. The hundreds-of-meters-longTanghe Riverscenic belt along the river is perfect for a leisurely stroll. You can also see theKuixing Pavilionon the old street, with its overhanging eaves, which carries the wishes of ancient examinees praying for success in imperial examinations, and it is quite recognizable. The old street is relatively quiet during the day, making it suitable for examining architectural details. In the evening, when the lights come on, lanterns and their reflections on the river make the area more vibrant, which is also a great time for taking photos.Wenzhou · 3.3 km from downtown

The mountain is covered with dense vegetation and lush greenery, making it a popular spot for locals to exercise, hike, and take walks. Nanji Islands-Dasha'ao Beach

Nanji Islands-Dasha'ao Beach is flanked by mountains on both sides and is the island's iconic natural beach. What makes it special is the sand itself: it is not ordinary fine quartz sand, but shell sand formed by the long-term erosion and grinding of marine shellfish remains by waves. It feels soft and delicate under bare feet, and glimmers under the sun on clear days. This sea area is known as the "Kingdom of Shells and Algae." The water is crystal clear, transitioning from shades of blue near the shore to deeper hues in the distance, and the beach is flat and open, extending far into the sea. During the day, you can sunbathe, swim, or splash in the waves here. In the tidal pools after low tide, you can often find mudskippers and small crabs hiding in the sand, making it a great place to take children to experience the fun of beachcombing; sitting on the beach in the evening to watch the sunset paint the sea orange-red is a memorable scene for many visitors to the island. From April to June each year, on clear, dark nights, you have the chance to see the "blue tears," where waves glow with a faint blue light, adding a delightful surprise to your island trip.Pingyang · 53.9 km from downtown

Taogong Cave is located in the Daluoyan Attraction, at the foot of Daluoyan Mountain. The cave is 56 meters high, 76 meters wide and 79 meters deep. It is the largest stone chamber in southern Zhejiang. "The light and dark in the cave change with the clouds. It is dark when the clouds return and bright when the clouds disperse." The cave is divided into two floors, upper and lower. There are three Guanyin Pavilions on the lower floor, and there is a lecture platform in front of the pavilion that can accommodate hundreds of people. There are nine-bay front halls, bell and drum towers, wing rooms and monk kitchens outside the cave. A 56-step stone staircase on the south side of the cave leads to the upper "roof terrace". Behind the roof terrace is the Hugong Hall, which enshrines the seated statue of Hugong the Great, and in front of it is the Wenchang Pavilion. Under the right side of the shrine of the Hugong Hall is a jar-shaped "Red Water Well", which never dries up or overflows all year round. There are two long caves on the rock wall on the south side of the cave, called Liumi Cave and Baiyu Cave. At night, the white stones on the cave wall are illuminated by lights and candles, which look like floating clouds or scales, with different shapes and colors from far and near. Water drips down the cliffs at the entrance of the cave and falls into the pool, just like "flowers scattered by a goddess". Taogong Cave is close to the mountain and faces the water. There is a huge stone in front of the cave, about 20 meters high, called "Dengxian Stone". 200 meters north of the cave, you can see three cliffs standing like a barrier, named "Three Lions Sleeping Together". There is a "Guest-welcoming Pine" on the top of the cliff. There are also scenic spots such as Liuluo Mountain, Baiyun Ridge, Longshan Cave, Chaotian Turtle, and Chishui Pavilion near Taogong Cave. Taogong Cave is praised by Taoists as "the twelfth blessed place in the world". During the Three Kingdoms period, Taoist Wang Xuanzhen practiced here; in the ninth year of Tianjian (510) of Emperor Wu of Liang in the Southern Dynasty, Tao Hongjing, known as the "Prime Minister in the Mountains", wrote the book "Zhen Gao" in seclusion here, so it is also called Zhengao Rock. The temples in the cave were first built in the seventh year of Xiantong (866) of Emperor Yizong of the Tang Dynasty, and were successively rebuilt in the Song, Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are many incense here, and the incense period is from the beginning of August to September 9th of the lunar calendar every year.Yongjia · 17 km from downtown

Lishui Ancient Street is located in the Nanxi River Scenic Area in Wenzhou. It was built on the water storage embankment on the eastern edge of Yantou Village, which was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, Yantou Village was the only road available to salt merchants, so the road gradually developed into a commercial street with charming shops, snack shops and roadside bars.Yongjia · 21.3 km from downtown

Dongtou Little Erhai Lakeis named for its scenery of azure waters, reefs, and long causeways, which resembles Erhai Lake in Yunnan. It is a popular seaside photo spot on social media, and couples often come here specifically for wedding photos. The core "Zhongyu Waiting for You" wedding photography base is located on Zhongyu Island, known for its unique rocks, beautiful reefs, and secluded caves. The main attractions are concentrated along the colorful coastal causeway: the breakwater is painted in bright colors, and people like to call it the "Rainbow Causeway"; the causeway is dotted with photo installations such as an ocean swing, vintage piano, vintage telephone, "80s Record Room", windmill, blue and white arched balcony, and white long table and benches, while the words "Vows of Eternal Love" are carved into the rocks. With the blue sky, white clouds, reefs, and the sea as a backdrop, you can take fresh, ocean-facing photos just by standing or sitting anywhere. The scenic area also includes a small beach where children can dig in the sand and play in the water, making it family-friendly. You can walk along the coast to enjoy the reef views around Zhongyu up close, and near the viewing platform, you can also experience a speedboat trip out to sea, offering a different perspective of the colorful causeway from the water.Wenzhou · 45.2 km from downtown

As the evening breeze caresses the Wenrui River, one can experience the romantic nighttime atmosphere of Wenzhou. The city lights gradually illuminate the scene, ancient bridges lean against the flowing water, and old buildings with white walls and gray tiles gaze at the distant city lights. Layers of shimmering light float on the river's surface as boats glide by, shattering the sparkling reflections.

🌞 I'm in Wenzhou! With no plans, I just casually wandered around and stumbled upon the famous Wuma Street. It's a bit like the bustling Nanjing Road in Shanghai, but a bit more gentle and slower. 🏛️ The buildings lining the street are Baroque-style buildings from the Republican era. The sunlight dappled the facades, creating a beautiful, mottled effect. While walking, I came across the magnificent bronze statue of "Five Galloping Horses." It was truly breathtaking!✨ There's also the First Department Store and century-old shops—it's like you can smell the scent of bygone times. 📍 Address: Wuma Street, Lucheng District, Wenzhou (between Jiefang Street and Fuqian Street) ⏰ Hours: Open all day, feel free to stroll around. 🪶 Fun Fact: Wuma Street got its name from the fact that when Wang Xizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty traveled, the street was wide enough to accommodate five horses galloping side by side. Isn't that quite poetic? ⸻ 🐎 1️⃣ Five Galloping Horses Bronze Statue The bronze horses looked particularly imposing in the sunlight, and many people stopped to take photos. On a clear day, the light and shadows on the horses made them look like they were galloping, so dynamic! 🏮 2️⃣ Chan Street Archway The archway of the New Guoguang Building is easily recognizable from afar. Further in, you can see the Jingguang Pagoda on Songtai Mountain. I happened to be there during sunset, and the warm light was incredibly beautiful. 📸 🏛️ 3️⃣ Baroque Buildings Every corner offers a great photo opportunity. The Republican-era-style exterior walls glow golden in the sunlight during the day and warm in the light at night. Wherever you walk by, you'll feel like you've traveled back in time. 🎭 4️⃣ Ancient Theater The bluestone pavement, carved stone figures, and the archway across the street are all incredibly exquisite. The ancient stage and modern architecture juxtaposed side by side create a wonderful contrast, a truly Wenzhou-inspired experience. ⸻ 🚶‍♀ I didn't take the train~ I preferred to walk slowly, take photos, and enjoy snacks. No rush, no set route. Just let my feet take me wherever I want to go.💭

After reading the comments, I felt like I went to a fake Yuliao? Why did I navigate to the Yuliao Visitor Center and it said there was a paid seaside boardwalk, but there was no staff and the boardwalk was broken in the middle. Locals said it was closed (⁼̴̤̆ ㉨⁼̴̤̆  ) The big beach was also average

Taogong Cave is indeed just a cave, but it's quite unique due to its natural features. The release pond at the entrance is teeming with fish; I always wonder if the red field fish served in nearby farmhouses are made from these fish. And the Ascension Stone at the entrance is clearly no ordinary object.

Lishui Ancient Street is brimming with ancient charm. The winding corridors built along the water's edge, with red lanterns reflecting in the clear water, create a captivating atmosphere. The clean and tidy cobblestone streets, ancient bridges and pavilions, and other structures are scattered throughout, possessing both the gentleness of a Jiangnan water town and the lively atmosphere of an ancient village in Yongjia. The shops along the street are artistic yet down-to-earth, and the night view is particularly photogenic. With its relaxed pace and lack of commercialism, it's perfect for leisurely strolls and taking pictures, making it a must-visit hidden gem in Nanxi River – a truly fantastic experience!
