Things to do in Xishuangbanna

Excellent! Definitely worth a visit. The Mengla Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences truly lives up to its 5A rating; the sheer number of tropical plants is dazzling. The Victoria amazonica pond, palm garden, and botanical garden are all photogenic, and the strangler figs in the rainforest area are breathtaking. The park is quite large, so definitely take the electric cart; a guided tour will broaden your knowledge. Recommended for families with children or those who love plants; you could easily spend a whole day there without getting bored.

We arrived just in time for the 11:30 AM Dai King's Marriage Proposal performance, which was quite entertaining. Further into the park is the Elephant Garden, but unfortunately we arrived too late and missed the elephant show. The walk from the entrance to the Elephant Garden is quite long, about 15-20 minutes. Along the way, you'll pass the Giant Lotus Pond and the Fish Pond; the fish in the pond were huge and plump, probably because many people feed them. Throughout the park, you'll see tourists taking photos in traditional Dai clothing. The back gate connects to the General Buddhist Temple, and you can re-enter the park from there.

When visiting Xishuangbanna, you should definitely check off all the attractions. This one felt the most user-friendly; there were staff members at every point to ask for help, and they were all very helpful. If you're driving, just navigate to Parking Lot 2 at the North Gate, but don't enter from the North Gate. You can take the shuttle bus to the South Gate and enter from there, which is easier.

This is the most worthwhile place to visit in Xishuangbanna. The park is huge; it would take a long time to explore on your own. We hired an official guide, who was very professional and even showed us the seeds of the Hopea tree and the Golden Snake (a type of wild gooseberry). There are many plants that need explanation; otherwise, it's really hard to understand them.

Xishuangbanna | The only thing you'll never tire of is water splashing! The sightseeing bus ticket includes 4 rides. The water splashing square is 100 meters after entering the main gate, so it's recommended to leave it for last and visit the attractions first. First stop: Border Wharf You can try speedboat rides (I didn't find them exciting), the Mekong River isn't beautiful at all [laughing emoji]. Second stop: Manting Buddhist Village I go there every time. There's a four-faced Buddha at the entrance, and the large white pagoda is very photogenic. Sitting in the temple immediately calms you down. Third stop: Peacock Garden Watching the second performance is the best option, seamlessly connecting to the 3:40 PM water splashing. Fourth stop: Water Splashing Square The old square used to be very basic, but now it's moved to the entrance, super convenient, with complete facilities, and the opening ceremony has a fantastic atmosphere! The double stages are also very impressive! Essential Gear: Waterproof phone case, swimming goggles, disposable towel + underwear. I recommend renting a Dai ethnic costume for 19.9 RMB at a photography shop in the Water Splashing Square first. They also provide a free water splashing basin and slippers. The shop has lockers, which is very convenient. Then start the water splashing frenzy! Afterwards, change back into your costume and sunbathe on the nearby lawn; your hair will be dry in 10 minutes. Other Tips: 1. I personally think it's unnecessary to rush. Arrive at 1 PM, and you'll see the peacock dance performance at 2:30 PM and the water splashing at 3:40 PM. You won't miss any of the highlights! 2. There are machines at the scenic area gate that print guide maps. For 9.9 RMB, you can also DIY your own photos—a great souvenir. 3. Don't buy the water splashing basin in advance! Get one for free at the changing room entrance in the square! 4. After the water splashing ends, the food street in the square is closing up shop. You can buy three servings of fruit for 6 RMB—it's a great deal! You can also bargain at other stalls! 5. On the way back, go to the city center and have some local barbecue—it's delicious!

This Jinuo Mountain rainforest trek truly exceeded my expectations! The scenery was breathtaking throughout, the pristine rainforest atmosphere was overwhelming, with towering trees, tangled vines, crystal-clear streams, and the air filled with the moist scent of vegetation. Along the way, we saw various tropical plants and insects, and the guide provided a wealth of rainforest knowledge, making the hike both educational and enjoyable – I didn't feel tired at all. A special shout-out to our driver, Lian Wei! His driving skills were steady, making the mountain roads very safe, and he was incredibly friendly, sharing local customs and traditions with us along the way. Our guide, Bao, was also very professional. His route planning was well-planned, and his pacing was excellent, allowing us to fully experience the wildness of the rainforest while ensuring our safety. He proactively helped us on difficult sections. His explanations were lively and engaging, demonstrating his extensive knowledge of Jinuo culture and rainforest ecology, truly making this trek more than just a "walk" – a profound experience of nature. In short, beautiful scenery, a steady driver, and a fantastic guide – a flawless trek! Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience the Jinuo Mountain rainforest!

It's a beautiful place, definitely worth visiting. There weren't many people at this time of year, and the weather wasn't too hot, so we had a great time and plenty of fun. The scenery was beautiful, with lots of greenery and lovely flowers—a perfect trip.

The scenery was just incredible. It looked like AI because it was so so so unbelievable on the picture but you don't have to worry because as you see them in the picture is really as they are in the reality. You need a little bit of 4 hours to complete the whole thing, if you take the elevator its faster. If you have more strength and more time, you can walk through the whole way, but if it's rainy or if it's sunny, I really advise you to take either the small car or the elevator

The Wangtianshu area is a pristine tropical rainforest with fresh air. The canopy walkway is thrilling and breathtaking, and a boat trip on the Nanla River is pleasant. It's perfect for getting close to nature, and I highly recommend a guided tour. The tour isn't very long, and we hired one and had a very enjoyable experience. We only spent 3 hours in the scenic area and saw all sorts of butterflies—yellow, blue, green, and black. We didn't get bitten by any mosquitoes! The guide said there were far fewer insects this year, indicating effective pest control. However, transportation is indeed a bit inconvenient; I suggest increasing the number of shuttle buses.

Strolling through the streets of Gaozhuang and Xishuangjing, you'll find exotic architecture everywhere. Some are magnificent, some are simple and elegant, and some are exquisite and compact.
