Yilan Traditional Arts Center is a paradise for all art, culture, and literature lovers, and a must-visit attraction when traveling to Yilan. The park features three notable buildings to visit: Wenchang Temple, the former residence of Yilan's first imperial examination graduate Huang Zuanxu, and Guangxiao Hall, each with its unique characteristics and representing the local art and culture. Wenchang Temple is revered by locals as a sacred sanctuary for scholars, as it enshrines the Five Saints of Literature who have long protected academics. Additionally, its halls also worship deities like the patron saints of opera and craftsmanship, who play a vital role in preserving Yilan's traditional arts. Beyond these three buildings, the park offers many other attractions to explore. On Chuan Yi Boulevard, numerous unique handmade stalls will dazzle your eyes, while lively performances entertain you at the square. When you need a break, head to the ferry pier and board a cruise to admire the scenic views. You can also visit Guangxiao Hall and the former residence of imperial scholar Huang Zuanxu to learn about Yilan's family traditions, birth rituals, and folk culture. Within the park, join DIY craft workshops to create handmade souvenirs or participate in the lively religious procession to ward off evil spirits and bring home abundant good fortune.Yilan · 5.6 km from downtown

Taiping Mountain was formerly known as "Mian Nao", which means "lush and green" in the Atayal language. People can stroll in the primeval forest behind Zhen'an Temple and let their thoughts soar to the past when the mountain was covered with giant trees. Drive along the Cuifeng Forest Trail, where you can often see animals such as Taiwan macaques and emperor pheasants. The end point is Taiwan's largest alpine lake: Cuifeng Lake, which is 1,840 meters above sea level. On the opposite bank is the home of the national treasure Taiwan beech. In autumn, you can enjoy the golden mountains along the 4-kilometer trail. The Jiuzhize Hot Spring, not far from the toll station, is a well-known carbonated spring and is also a major feature of this place. Taipingshan Forest Recreation Area is the first choice for you who love nature when visiting Yilan.Yilan · 31 km from downtown

On the Lanyang Plain in Yilan County, the place name Luodong Town comes from the local pronunciation of "monkey" (lao-dong). Today, what makes this small town famous far and wide is no longer the monkeys in the hills, but the brightly lit culinary scene centered aroundZhongshan Park—Luodong Night Market. Luodong Night Market's highlight is the array of dishes that capture Yilan's local flavors. Angelica mutton soup is one of the two signature stalls that always draws long lines. The herbal broth is mellow and not greasy, and a full plate of mutton slices has no gamey smell. When paired with fried stinky tofu that is crispy outside and tender inside, it becomes a classic, stomach-warming comfort. Sanxing scallions are Yilan's signature ingredient. The Sanxing scallion pancake wraps freshly rolled dough around an overflowing amount of chopped scallions and minced meat, fried until golden and crispy, releasing a burst of scallion aroma when you bite into it. Stuffed tapioca balls, with a whole red bean tucked inside each chewy ball and served with icy shaved ice, create a charming hot-and-cold contrast.Yilan · 156m from downtown

Located in a prime location in Taipei, Taipei 101 was primarily planned by Taipei Financial Center Corporation, a consortium of fourteen companies, in collaboration with a professional team. Designed by renowned architect C.Y. Lee, the project transcends the concept of a single volume, using the auspicious number "eight" (a homophone for "prosperity") as a design unit. Each eight-story building forms a structural unit, interconnected and stacked to form the overall structure. This creates a rhythmic and dynamic aesthetic, pioneering a new style for international skyscrapers. Ultra-high-speed elevators: Taipei 101 Observatory is equipped with two ultra-high-speed elevators, with an ascent speed of up to 1010 meters per minute. It only takes 37 seconds to go from the 5th floor to the 89th floor observation deck. These two elevators are also equipped with constant pressure devices in the car, dampers, and high-temperature resistant ceramic braking systems, making them intelligent high-speed elevators that integrate high technology. The 89th-floor indoor observation deck, illuminated by dazzling lights at night, creates a dreamlike and immersive experience through its glass-enclosed landscape. Not only does it offer panoramic views of the city skyline, but it also features unique, private photo windows, ensuring every moment becomes a classic shot! Wind Damping Sphere: The full official name of the Taipei 101 wind damping sphere is the Tuned Mass Damper (TMD). It is a passive damping system custom-designed to meet the needs of this building, located centrally on floors 87-92. Its main purpose is to reduce the building's swaying during strong winds, minimizing discomfort for those working in the building. Unlike traditional concealed damping systems, the Taipei 101 wind damping sphere's design balances functionality and aesthetics, allowing a clear view of the entire damping system's operation from the observation deck. The multi-section exterior design naturally mitigates the wind field effect on the ground caused by airflow from high-rise buildings, and ensures pedestrian safety and comfort through the separation of green planting areas in the architectural design. Infinite Sky: Utilizing a unique mirroring principle, the interplay of reflections and rotations between the atrium and floor creates a visual experience of boundless space and limitless expanse, making visitors feel as if they are in a kaleidoscope world. Helpful Reminder: Female visitors wearing short skirts should be aware of the reflection issues on the mirrored floor. Rainbow Neon Zone: The night view from above, combined with neon lights, is a popular spot for taking photos and shouldn't be missed!Taipei · 44.3 km from Yilan

Yanbo Huashijian – Yilan Traditional Arts – Located in the National Center for Traditional Arts, Yilan Traditional Arts Park. With the concept of "Overnight stay in Lanyang Arts City, strolling through ancient alleys," it allows guests to stay comfortably, play freely, and gather at the center of traditional arts, discovering the cultural and artistic traces hidden in everyday life, deeply experiencing and promoting Taiwan's traditional arts. All guest rooms are designed by Huang Sheng-yuan Architects, featuring nostalgic terrazzo floors, corridors, ponds, pavilions, and wooden chairs. Wandering freely through the rich Minnan-style architecture feels like stepping back in time to old Taiwan, leaving behind moments filled with profound cultural memories. Part 3

Bong Bong Train was very fun to ride and the weather was misty and cold. The lower and upper trail was nicely finished in the time when we waited for the train back.

Guishan Island, also known as Guishan Islet, is the largest island in Yilan County and the only active volcano in Taiwan. It is named after its turtle-like appearance. Due to its prominent terrain, Guishan Island was once listed as a military stronghold and became a controlled area for the garrison of the National Army. On August 1, 2000, Guishan Island was officially opened to tourism. The special geology has formed many spectacular views, such as the Rising Sun on Guishan Mountain, the Smoke on Guidao Island, the Stalactites in the Spectacle Cave, the Turtle Eggs, the Cliffs of Turtle Rock, the God Turtle Wearing a Hat, and the Spirit Turtle Wagging its Tail.

Recommended reason: I am studying in Yilan now. The first time I came to this place was with my father. He brought me here for the first time and drove for a long time to go home, about six hours. Actually, I miss it very much. My father worked very hard and treated me very well. I think the Dongwang steak there is delicious and affordable, but the portion is not very big (I recommend adding noodles). There is also a stall outside 711 that sells grilled squid, which is also super delicious.

Jiaoxi Hot Springs are located in Deyang Village, Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County, on the Lanyang Plain in Taiwan Province. They are mainly distributed in the hot spring valley. The hot spring gushing area is in front of Jiaoxi Station on the Taiwan Railway Yilan Line. There are many hot spring hotels and hot spring inns from Wenquan Road in front of the station to Deyang Road on the mountainside. As soon as you exit the station, you can see the foot bath on the hot spring road. It is a great enjoyment to soak in the hot springs here in winter.

We went to Taiwan during the New Year...We took the cable car to and from Maokong Station to visit tourist attractions. It was the cherry blossom season. The cherry blossoms were super beautiful and it was a great place for family travel. We will go there again next time we have the chance. The air quality is fresh and the scenery is beautiful. We have been to Taiwan many times and still can't get enough... Looking forward to the next trip
