Mount Longhu

7.5
4.5/5
7.9k reviews

Mount Longhu Scenic Area is located on the outskirts of Yingtan City and is the birthplace of Taoism. Its founder Zhang Daoling once cultivated and attained enlightenment here. The appearance of Mount Longhu Scenic Area is similar to Wuyishan, both featuring typical Danxia landforms and a World Natural Heritage site. Riding a bamboo raft on the Luxi River to enjoy the mountain views on both banks is fantastic, and the cliff tombs of the ancient Yue people hanging coffins and coffin climbing performances are also very eye-catching highlights. The main attractions are distributed along both banks of the Luxi River from north to south, in order Elephant Trunk Mountain - Xianshui Rock - Mosquito Village - Mount Longhu - Zhengyi Temple - Shangqing Ancient Town (Shangqing Palace). If you want to stay tight, you can visit the main attractions in one day, or split it into two days for a detailed tour. The scenic area operates on a flat ticket system (each attraction can be visited once). Usually, you buy a full ticket, which includes sightseeing bus and rafting (or boat) fees, which is quite cost-effective. The sightseeing bus stops at a wave and can be used multiple times. If you need to stay here, accommodations are available in Yingtan city as well as near the tourist center, Xianshuiyan, Shangqing Ancient Town, and Jiuquzhou, but usually the base is near the visitor center. When visiting Mount Longhu Scenic Area, you can travel by sightseeing bus, walking, or rafting. For a day of sightseeing at the main attractions, you can take a sightseeing bus from the visitor center to Mount Longhu - Zhengyi Temple, then transfer to the farthest Shangqing Ancient Town (about 10 kilometers), and from there, travel backward to the starting point. Most houses in the ancient town are newly built. You can first visit Changqing Ward, then stroll along Shangqing Ancient Street. The town's highlights include the Celestial Master's Mansion and Shangqing Palace. The Celestial Master's Mansion is the ancestral home of the Zhengyi Sect, and most of the existing wooden buildings are antiques from the Qing Dynasty. Shangqing Palace is still a few kilometers away, with fewer tourists. If you don't want to wait for sightseeing buses, you can take a taxi ride there. Have lunch in the ancient town, then take a bus back to Mount Longhu - Zhengyi Temple. The temple here is slightly smaller than the Celestial Master's Mansion and was rebuilt in recent decades, so it's relatively new. It's worth a quick look. From Mount Longhu to Zhengyi View, walk another 5 minutes to the starting point of the rafting, and from here to the finish point at Xianshuiyan, the whole journey takes about 50 minutes. Along the way, you can enjoy mountain views on both banks. The boatmen will tell you legends about the Supreme Lord Laozi and the Queen Mother of the West, but this will cost extra. The famous "Ten Must-Haves" Danxia Stone Scenery can be seen in about three places in this section. The cliff tombs and hanging coffins at Xianshuiyan are full of mystery. The scenic area regularly stages a "coffin lifting" performance every day (10:00-16:00, every 2 hours for reference), demonstrating the process of securing coffins into caves on the cliff. Visitors watch from the Peach Blossom Islet shore, the final stop of Xianshuiyan on Mount Longhu, while the performance takes place on the opposite cliff, making it quite thrilling. Because "lifting the coffin" sounds like "promotion," some people come here to seek good luck. Bamboo rafts are parked on the water, and about 10 minutes before the coffin-raising performance, there is a "cormorant fishing" show showcasing the fishing and hunting lifestyle of the ancient Yue people. After watching the performance, take the free ferry to the opposite bank, then follow the signs to Fairy Rock. This rock, known as the "Mother Earth," is a famous spot in the Mount Longhu Scenic Area, vivid and lifelike. Not far from the Xianshui Rock terminal at Mount Longhu—Peach Blossom Islet—is the south gate of Elephant Trunk Hill. Halfway up the mountain, there is a smooth boardwalk where you can admire the mountain's silhouette from different angles as you walk. This Elephant Trunk Hill is much more rugged than the one in Guilin, with a straight trunk that looks very lifelike. It takes about one hour to walk along the boardwalk to the East Gate. The last attraction is the mosquito-free village, which can be reached by sightseeing bus. The scenery of Wuwen Village itself is average; most people come here to fill their stomachs. The village has two famous dishes: Celestial Master Tofu and Celestial Master Bagua Banquet, both vegetarian. It can be used for dinner. If you arrive at Mount Longhu Scenic Area in the afternoon, it's recommended to first visit Shangqing Ancient Town, then go to Mount Longhu - Zhengyi early the next morning to enjoy the rafting (there's almost no need to queue at this time), then go ashore to visit Elephant Trunk Hill to watch the coffin-raising performance and Fairy Rock. Afterwards, walk along the Luxi River to Wuwen Village for lunch. Nearby attractions like the Ancient Yue Folk Village are also worth seeing, allowing you to slowly enjoy the scenery of Mount Longhu Scenic Area.

Lianzhou underground river

Lianzhou underground river is located 26 km northeast of the ancient city of Lianzhou, nestled in the towering mountains at the junction of Guangdong, Guangxi and Hunan provinces. It is a giant natural limestone cave typical of subtropical karst landforms. Renowned for its mysterious and magnificent stalactites and subterranean rivers, it is hailed as the premier underground river in Guangdong. The attraction features both land and water routes - the land route showcases the cave formations while the water route explores the underground river. With its grand scale, spectacular views and unique combination of features, the Lianzhou underground river is considered a marvel of Lingnan region. Celebrated writer Qin Mu described it as "a mysterious and magnificent underground river". Its distinctive characteristics include caves within caves, rivers within caves, bridges within caves and waterfalls within caves. The Lianzhou underground river lies hidden in a karst cave halfway up the high mountain, covering an area of 100,000 m² with 60,000 m² accessible for visitors. The upper two levels feature spectacular sights like the 30 m-high sky-piercing pillar and the immortal field square that can accommodate 10,000 people. The third level consists of a winding underground river where water quietly flows into the cave's depths. The cave presents an extraordinary landscape with endless mountain-water vistas, towering cliffs, and naturally formed majestic openings that create a profound sense of discovering a hidden world - arguably surpassing even the seven-star attraction. With year-round temperatures maintained at 18-22°C, humidity at 96-98%, oxygen levels as high as 21.4-21.6%, and carbon dioxide content merely 0.01-0.019%, the cave offers fresh air, warm winters and cool summers, making it an ideal sanctuary for tourism and summer retreats. The cave features countless stalactites of diverse shapes and dazzling colors, with the tour area divided into three levels. The upper and middle levels are land layers with tall, spacious halls and solid rock walls, presenting magnificent scenes like "waterfalls," "mountain forests," "secluded valleys," "pastoral fields," and "Yao villages," where flowers bloom in competition and birds soar amid drifting clouds. The lower level is an underground river meandering 1,500 m from north to south, passing through three beautiful gorges and beneath four mountain peaks. The river is 1.6-10 m wide and 1-7 m deep, with breathtaking scenery along both banks, including the cave treasures "Golden rooster heralds the dawn" and "Flying elephant crosses the river," as well as the two-in-one spectacle "Longevity star" in the underground river. There are also nearly 100 natural wonders formed by stone pillars, stone curtains, stalagmites, stone lotus roots, and stone flowers, such as "Flying waterfall and strange rocks" and "Flower and bird divine pavilion." Every natural wonder leaves visitors in awe, making them reluctant to leave. Lianzhou underground river offers free guide services, and viewing the stone formations with the guide's explanation makes it more fascinating. After walking through the land layer, visitors can board a cruise boat, with each boat accommodating approx. 18 people. The small boat travels along the underground river through winding and narrow passages, where stalactites overhead are within reach. Along the way, you'll pass through three gorges: banana gorge, lotus gorge, and Lianzhou underground river-dragon gate gorge. The stalactite formations on both banks, illuminated by lights, create a breathtaking sight. Visitors often get wet from water droplets falling from the dome, unlike overdeveloped caves that have dried up and lost their vitality. Product type: Land layer tour + cruise. The Lianzhou underground river attraction operates on a single-ticket system for the cave. The standard tour duration is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours (may extend during peak season and holidays). The itinerary includes walking through the land layer and taking a cruise along the underground river. The cruise lasts about 10-15 minutes, and the entire cave tour takes approx. 1.5 hours.

The Star of Nanchang Ferris Wheel stands on the banks of the Gan River in Honggutan, with a total height of approx. 160 m and a wheel diameter of approx. 153 m. When it was completed in 2006, such height ranked among the top in the world's Ferris wheels, and it has since remained a highly recognizable landmark of Nanchang. The wheel is equipped with 60 observation cabins, corresponding precisely to the 60-minute time scale. Each cabin can accommodate 6 to 8 people and is air-conditioned. A full rotation takes approx. 30 minutes at a gentle pace, making it effortless to ride with seniors and children. The ferris wheel takes on a different face after nightfall: thousands of LED lights on its surface illuminate to form a giant colorful clock, with hands and numbers moving in real time. It can also switch to various patterns, creating a striking sight when viewed across the river—a scene many deliberately wait to photograph. The highlight of riding the ferris wheel is the contrast between the "two banks of the river": as the cabin rises, you have the expansive Gan River beneath your feet, with rows of modern high-rises in Honggutan on one side and the old city skyline on the other. You can see the city's silhouette by day and the lights on both banks by night, each with its own charm. To capture the entire ferris wheel, you can take photos from the opposite bank of the Gan River or along the riverside promenade, framing both the river and the wheel in your shot. After comprehensive upgrades, the ship has added deluxe cabins in addition to standard viewing cabins. The travelers center below deck offers services such as rest areas, luggage storage, and guided tours, allowing you to settle your belongings before boarding the ship at ease.

It's definitely worth a visit. Everyone says that free things are the most expensive, but I think this place is excellent. Li Zijian's works are absolutely worth seeing! The portraits are incredibly lifelike. However, the lunch is really not good, unlike what people say online. You can eat outside.

A Seven-Character Quatrain on Viewing Five Finger Peak A magnificent sight in Chenzhou, Five Finger Peak soars to the heavens. A towering cliff holds up the azure sky, a thousand layers of verdant ravines rise in layers of peaks. Dense forests hang upside down on the cliff edge, a light mist lingers around the majestic mountain peak. Many visitors rush to climb the stone plank road, but I alone stand quietly at the foot of the cliff.

I visited Mingyue Mountain after hearing so much about it, and the overall experience was fantastic! The mountains and forests are lush and verdant, with beautiful scenery at every turn. The Qingyun Plank Road offers expansive views, allowing you to gaze at the rolling mountains and take great photos. The mountain temperature is pleasant, making it a perfect escape from the summer heat. The park's signage is clear, the service is excellent, and the itinerary is well-planned. After exploring Mingyue Mountain, a soak in the selenium-rich hot springs completes the experience, offering both health and relaxation. This route in Yichun is ideal for a short getaway.

We were very satisfied with the experience of visiting the Copper Kiln with our kids over the weekend. The park is large, but the route is well-planned and there are benches everywhere. The children loved the various folk performances at the Dream Kingdom. I highly recommend families stay overnight to enjoy the night view for an even better experience!

The Ferris wheel offers a beautiful view of Nanchang's nightscape, and its gentle speed makes it suitable for all ages. However, after purchasing tickets online, I couldn't get my ticket printed at the ticket gate, which delayed my ticket check and spoiled my experience. This needs improvement.
