It's a little over a 10-minute walk from JR Gifu Station. Meitetsu Gifu Station is closer. However, since it's close to the downtown area, meals are not an issue. The breakfast buffet was also well-balanced.

It was a wonderful stay here. Loved the convenience of shops, eateries, convenience store, JR bus terminal and station and Meitetsu Gifu so coming from the airport is no problem at all. Easy to locate the hotel. The hotel staff seems to be waiting for my arrival as I had pre informed that I would need a late check-in as my flight lands at night. They were also responsive and gave clear instructions on how to do a check-in after 12am. As always, cleanliness is top notch.

The location is good to reach easily the JR and Meitetsu station, also close to the main city and highway bus stops. Very close to Gifu City 43 (with observatory deck). It is just around what used to be the covered clothing shopping district, which is now mostly empty and run down. The district is seeing progressive renovations. There are plenty of restaurants around, but for more affordable places, might have to walk some distance. Room are large enough, so you wont have trouble opening and arranging large luggage. The furniture is old and bathroom needs some maintenance (sink cracked on top and leaking under the drain). The ambient was quite dusty and the cleaning of the room is done only on the fourth day of stay (used towels, garbage and mugs/glasses must be put outside the room and will be replaced with a clean set at the door). There is a coin laundry with dryers, but it’s located at lobby level. The staff is polite and helpful, speaks English.

First, the food was pretty good. You can pre-order an extra menu for dinner; check the hotel's official website for details. Both dinner and breakfast are buffet style, and you can sit anywhere. The hotel's location is a bit inconvenient; the entire walk from Gero is uphill and exhausting. You can book a shuttle bus or take a taxi; it's about a 3-4 minute walk. This time, I chose a room with a private open-air hot spring bath, which was very comfortable. The large public bath on the second floor is also quite spacious. The hotel has a complimentary relaxation area where you can sample plum wine and fruit juice popsicles. There are massage chairs on the first floor for 300 yen for 15 minutes. The lounge on the second floor has complimentary foot massagers.

This hotel has a large public bath and basically includes breakfast. The public bath isn't large, but it's plenty large enough for everyone who wants it. The breakfast is pretty good, and it comes with milk. The room is standard, a typical Japanese-style room.

It is very hard to find the hotel as no street light at all , hotel should install spot light at its sign. Hard to see in the dark even 7 :30 pm in Fall seasons. Room is good size, only bathroom very small. But overall is cleaned. Smooth check in and out. Only inconvenience is we have to choose specific time to use onsen and breakfast time. Since we check in kinda late, no choice left for us. Ended up we could not use onsen facility. Breakfast was small portion with only 3 pieces of onigiri and small pieces of tamago and salmon. Should include bread of some sort. This hotel is run by Chinese management, not local Japanese.

GGuest UserThe rooms are luxurious and look great. Even though there's no restaurant in the hotel, there's a small mini-mart where you can grab something to eat. The drinks sold at the mini-mart are good, and there are tables to sit at, a microwave, miso soup, and ice available. Overall, it's very good and close to the public onsen.

MMike IgOur stay at Ryokan Gizan was a truly memorable experience. This is a traditionally built and decorated Japanese ryokan, with tatami floors, sliding doors, and an authentic atmosphere that makes you feel fully immersed in Japanese culture. It’s definitely a “must-visit” if you’re looking to experience traditional Japanese accommodation — even a short stay of 2–3 nights is enough to make it special. The ryokan is quite old, which actually adds to its authentic charm, though it might feel a bit less comfortable for more demanding guests. That said, it’s very well maintained and everything is clean and thoughtfully arranged. The onsen facilities were excellent — one public bath and four private ones that you can use freely. After long days of exploring, it was a real treat. We highly recommend booking with the traditional dinner included. The meals were a highlight: we had Yakiniku the first night and Shabu-shabu the second, both featuring fresh, generous portions of delicious food. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese set — beautifully presented and made with care, though not quite to our personal taste. The location is stunning — surrounded by mountains, rivers, and blossoming trees. It feels peaceful and remote. Just note that amenities like ATMs or grocery stores are limited nearby. However, it’s well connected by bus (just a 3-minute walk from the ryokan), which can take you to Kamikochi or the terminals at Takayama and Hirayu Onsen. Buses run about once an hour, so it’s quite manageable. Overall, a fantastic stay — relaxing, unique, and highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a more traditional and scenic side of Japan.

11509Location is very good for travellers using Gifu station, just across a street with rows of restaurants behind the hotel. Renovated and clean, we booked a smoking room by mistake, but there was no available non-smoking room to change. Able to open the window to clear some cigarette odour in the room.

まっそーStayed in a double room for one night in April 2025 [Good points] - Well-equipped bathing facilities - Massage chairs available for free [Points to note] - The hotel is visible from JR Gifu Station, but it is a little far away [Overall review] Dormy Inn hotels have a wide range of bathing facilities, so you can use them with peace of mind. I was tired from traveling, so I was grateful to be able to use the massage chair for free for 15 minutes after bathing.

GGuest UserStayed there for two nights. In-room onsen was good, staff at reception excellent. Food was simply terrible. Rice was cold (personally it’s simply unacceptable in any Japanese restaurant except for sushi may be?), the chef seems to enjoy making fusion dishes (and except that they were unappetising). To name but a few, we had strawberry mousse for starter, tofu (which was bitter) and pickles with miso for mains, and who’d put diced apple in an apple sorbet?? (Felt as though I was biting into ice cubes). The waitress was also extremely impatient and rushed us through our meals (we finished our dinners within 35 minutes, breakfasts 20). I honestly cannot recommend this hotel. Sorry, but no.

CChoco CarameliciousI chose this hotel because of its location and how nice the room looked, which turned out to exceed my expectations. I had an exceptional experience staying here. It’s less than a 5-minute walk from Takayama Station. We arrived quite early—several hours before check-in—but were able to store our luggage. The check-in process itself was smooth. The room we reserved felt more like an apartment-style hotel room. It was very spacious, with plenty of room to move around. I liked how the furniture was arranged; everything was well-maintained, clean, and tidy. The beds were large, and I especially appreciated that they provided four pillows each—I slept very comfortably. I also loved the balcony. My friend and I spent hours there, watching cars and trains come and go, as well as people walking by. The facilities and amenities were exactly as advertised in the Services & Amenities section. Out of my recent two-week trip, this accommodation was the place I enjoyed the most.

カオリのパパI honestly can't give this guesthouse even a slightly bad review; it's a perfect 100 out of 100, no, make that 150 points! The staff, both the young man and the ladies, prepared breakfast for us early. At 7:27 AM, they politely called our room to let us know breakfast was ready (it was supposed to start at 8 AM, but they knew we had a bus to catch, so they prepared it ahead of time). And when we arrived at the bus station yesterday, the young man was already waiting for us there, helping us carry our luggage upstairs to the front desk. The emotional value they provided was off the charts, and breakfast and dinner were both perfect! There's truly nothing to pick apart. No wonder this guesthouse has no bad reviews; it would feel wrong to give it even 0.1 points less. It absolutely deserves full marks plus 50 points!

GGuest UserThis hotel is definitely worth recommending! They knew we were staying for two nights, so they varied the breakfast and dinner offerings, which was a nice touch. Just like the day before, each room comes with a private onsen. If you're looking for privacy, a romantic space with your partner, and the opportunity to take some intimate photos in the hot spring, this place is absolutely the perfect choice.
