This hotel is quite basic, similar to an economy hotel in China. The room isn't very spacious, but the details are well-thought-out, and all necessary amenities are available. The hotel's main advantage is its incredibly convenient location; just step out the door to the left, and you're at Kanazawa train station. The ginkgo trees lining the streets in late autumn offer a charming view, making travel very easy. I noticed many domestic business travelers and older students staying there. The hotel has a public bathhouse accessible with your room card, but we were too exhausted from sightseeing every day to try it. Overall, this hotel isn't for a relaxing 'lie-flat' stay, but for those who frequently visit attractions, its location and value for money make it a pretty good choice.
Although the room is 19sqm, it was enough for 3 of us. The bathroom was a good size. The location was good, 15 min walk from kenroku-en. There was free flow drinks at the cafe from 4-8pm.. However, as our room was on 2nd floor, and next to the small lane, with many pubs, it was quite noisy through the night.
This hotel located exactly beside JR Kanazawa Sta. So if you want to go to Shirakawago by bus ( of course u have to reserved before ) it is easy to reach the bus station behind Kanazawa Sta. I choose this hotel also because I used Hokuriku pass which is passed by Kanazawa Sta. The room is like other 3 star hotel in Japan, not too big but enough if you bring top loading luggage.
The location is fantastic! Although it's a bit of a walk from Kanazawa Station, the hotel is surrounded by amazing restaurants. All the eateries recommended by the official Kanazawa website are within walking distance, and the hotel is centrally located, making it super convenient to get anywhere. Since taking the bus can be a hassle, I'd recommend walking – it really doesn't take that long, haha!
The hotel environment is also perfectly fine. They don't provide slippers, but since it's a Japanese-style tatami room, you just walk on it directly, so it's no big deal. If you're particular, you can bring your own disposable slippers. Plus, the hotel cleans daily, and even the shoe cabinet is wiped clean!
Just a heads-up: you can't stay in the room during cleaning hours (11:00 AM - 3:00 PM), and check-ins aren't processed then either. You can hang out in the hotel lobby during that time, but honestly, when you're on vacation, shouldn't you be out enjoying yourself instead of waiting around?
Second time staying at this hotel and the reason being the location that is in the train station. Very convenient for travelers with suitcases as hotel can be accessed from inside the station. Lots of eateries in the station area. Walking to Omicho market took 15 minutes. The room was of typically small but clean. Will return again when back in Kanazawa.
It is a 10-minute drive from JR Kaga Onsen Station. The hotel can arrange a shuttle bus. The hotel environment is touching, and it is a pleasure to walk around the hotel. Breakfast and dinner are quite rich. The only drawback is that the hot spring is relatively small, with only two indoor and outdoor pools. It is slightly inferior to professional hot spring hotels.
This hotel is clearly showing its age and may not meet expectations for those looking for a more modern or well-maintained stay. While it carries the IHG branding, the overall experience feels dated.
One of the main challenges was communication. The front desk staff had very limited English proficiency, making it difficult to get clear directions—especially regarding parking. Guests are required to go to the front desk to ask about parking arrangements, which is not very convenient. The signage outside is also misleading, and it’s easy to mistakenly park at a nearby open-air lot that charges ¥100 per 15 minutes or ¥1000 for 12 hours. The hotel’s designated parking is actually located in a shopping mall, which is not immediately obvious.
The rooms themselves are quite old, with worn facilities. The bathroom had a noticeable musty smell, suggesting poor ventilation or maintenance. Amenities were basic—Dove toiletries were provided instead of the more commonly seen Pola brand in Japanese hotels. The air conditioning was also ineffective, which made the stay less comfortable.
That said, the hotel does have one strong advantage: location. It is directly opposite Ōmichō Market, making it very convenient for exploring the market and enjoying a great local breakfast.
Overall, this hotel may be suitable for travelers
who prioritize location over comfort, but those expecting a smoother and more modern stay might want to consider other options.
Breakfast was adequate, complimentary coffee was available throughout the day, and disposable toiletries and tea bags were provided. Amenities were available for self-service in the lobby. The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful, and the cleaning staff were also very courteous and commendable. The 5-minute walk to the JR station was a great advantage. I've stayed at several hotels in the R&B group, and their service quality has consistently been high.
Always been a big fan of the Dormy Inn chain, guaranteed a nice onsen and delicious supper and breakfast. Checking in and out is a breeze. This hotel is located steps away from the JR station as well as bus terminal, very easy to hop on a bus to tour the city. Highly recommended.
The staff were all very kind. The location is very convenient, right in front of the bus stop. You can also enjoy walking around the Korinbo area. There's a Lawson convenience store nearby. I appreciated the coin lockers in the lobby, the announcements for the bus to the station, and the coffee service. I didn't have high expectations for the location since it's in a busy area with many buildings, but the view from the window was just the wall of the building next door. Since I was traveling alone and only needed a room to sleep in, it actually made me feel more relaxed and allowed me to sleep well. I would definitely like to stay here again on my next trip.

Very Good
The hotel is well located: 15 min wall from the station, 10 from local district and historical place, just in front of the most famous market and along one of the most posh streets. A nice mall is just next to it if you need anything. The reception and restaurant are at the 16th floor and offer a great view. Rooms are correct, lathe not the modernest style but fine enough (I booked a single room). The personnel extremely gentle and helpful. I highly recommend this place.
Nice to stay here. The hotel location is close to Kanazawa station. That's convenience. Reception & Restaurant area are at 13rd floor. Twin bedroom is bigger than double bedroom (more space). Breakfast is served as Japanese's set. I staied for 2nights : The first breakfast is rice pot with fish set. The second breakfadt is rice pot with crab set. Love it❤️ what a photogram set I would said.
LLemonLucaThe hotel lobby has a very stylish design. The hot spring area is so comfortable as well. A special thank you to everyone at the hotel for their excellent service! The hotel owner's English is excellent; I will definitely recommend the hotel to my friends!
EeasyyongOur stay in Morino Sumika was wonderful. This hotel is probably one the best Hotel (Ryokan) We’ve ever stayed in Japan. We are so impressed with their service. The staffs are polite and responsive even though language barrier. We stayed in a room with open air bath type with balcony looking at the slope garden and hotel itself. The architecture is stunningly beautiful. Room are spacious and bigger than we had expected. The room layout is great. We are so amazed with the hotel facility and everything in the hotel that we want to spend much more time at the hotel rather than going out. The hotel is about 5 km away from Kagaonsen Station in the area called Yamashiro Onsen. They offer shuttle service which we contact them via email. Yamashiro Onsen is very nice and calm. FYI… Kagaonsen Station is 20 minutes travel from Kanazawa by Hokuriku Shinkansen… very convenience..
SSharon Joy CastrenceIt’s easy to find. From Kanazawa Station hop on a bus at Bay 10 the alight at the 2nd stop at Ohmicho Market then cross the street, walk for a minute or two. There’s a nearby Starbucks, Lawson and 7/11. About 12 minutes walk to Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Garden. Rooms are clean and I like it that they offer free skincare at the restrooms. I mean ladies are vain, it’s a good thing they pay attention to that. The staff are nice. It’s a capsule accommodation. They keep everything clean. So you don’t have to worry after an exhausting day, you’ll be welcome by a clean bed. A good tip, get the Kanazawa Loop Bus for only 800yen. You can hop the bus to go around Kanazawa Tourist. A value for money since the fare is about 210 yen just 1 way. The IC card don’t work on buses in Kanazawa. Either you pay in cash or credit cards
GGuest UserThe location is good, it's close to the train station. Staff were super friendly. There's a restaurant within the hotel which we had dinner there, food was good, though the price was a little higher than a normal local restaurant, but for the convenient sake, it was worth it. The bedroom was normal and bathroom is on the small side, since it's located in a small city/town, so don't expect it to be like those hotel in big city but overall it's clean and comfortable, and we were happy with it. There is also a self service free coffee at the lobby, which was good to have some hot drinks especially in the cold weather. Breakfast was very delicious, and you could tell they really made an effort. I would say it's the part I liked the most about my stay.
First night of my Hokuriku-Takayama trip I visited here in the first night. At first, I thought the hotel would be closer to the Kanazawa station (in the map told me around 400 meter from station but I think it more than 400 meter, however it is not too far). For me, the hotel is very well (High cleanliness, many amenities, good advice about travel in Kanazawa from hotel staff).
I was very satisfied with my stay. Although it was a bit far to get to, once I arrived, I found the facilities to be quite new (especially after learning it's over a century old, run by the same family for three generations). A Taiwanese staff member, a lovely older sister, was incredibly helpful, sharing many details about the history and ingredients. The best part was how uncrowded it was; only three groups were staying in the huge inn (likely why the public bath was closed and private baths were offered instead), which felt like a huge bonus. I booked the two-meal plan, and every meal was a delightful surprise, leaving me very happy and content. As a little bonus, there was a welcoming LOVOT robot!
