Flåmsbrygga Hotel

The hotel is at most 200 meters away from the visitor center. The whole town is actually not big and you can walk around in half a day. The room has a balcony and you can see the scenery from both sides. We were on the third floor facing the fjord and the view was very good. Breakfast was in a restaurant at the back, and the whole decoration was very nice.

I like it too much! ! ! The sermon stone hiking and stayed for one night, followed by the navigation and found it very well, free parking. The room is so cute, two people are just right. The room is facing the pier, with three windows and a superb view. The layout of the gates, corridors and restaurants are also beautiful. Breakfast is not bad, I feel that the breakfast in Europe and America is similar. The shower is a little bit small.
Lavik Fjord Hotel & Apartments

We loved this place. The apartment (2) was fully equipped with EVERYTHING you could need and had a gorgeous view of the fjord. The knives were even sharpened and they even had a washer and dryer. We only stayed a night but would have gladly stayed longer if our schedule allowed. We travel a lot - this place has all you need. Grocery store is a two-minute walk around the corner. Ferry is a five minute drive away. The place was immaculate and check-in a breeze.
Vatnahalsen Høyfjellshotell

It's a quaint inaccessible place with dark corridors, visible plumbing and rooms that needed a makeover long, long ago. It is only reachable by using the expensive Flåm Railway, or walking or riding 20 kilometres. It was originally built as a sanatorium in 1896, but it was never used for its intended purpose. Instead, it became popular as a hotel because of the Bergen Railway. After the Bergen Railway was opened in 1909, and especially after the Flåm Railway was connected with the Bergen Railway in 1940 it became a go to destination but times, tastes and fortune change. My first impression; I thought I was in an old folks home. It's on different floor levels within so one goes up/down a few steps to get to different rooms. It's not for wheelchair users. We arrived here without any welcome as 'cash cows'. We were part of the Flåm £15O a head railway trip off as guests of Norwegian Prima. Our train guide walked us up a slope from the station, in the rain, into the hotel, on a wet dank afternoon, only to tell us to go down two floors inside, for rather poor - tasting filtered cool coffee that sat on the tables in flasks. As we were cash cows other cash cows who were there from an earlier Flam train trip had blocked the narrow hallway which was annoying given the cold rain and wind as we were held outside jostling to get in. As we were a crowd we were put in an ugly nondescript room packed tight with fellow travellers. It resembled a school assembly hall with a public sector school dinner approach. So once we got into the downstairs room allocated for us we poured flasked coffee into tiny hotel style cold cups ending up with lukewarm lousy coffee which is unpleasant. If the (cold, limp, thin) waffles that sat plated on a top table were loving made fresh by the hotel's chef, from the finest flour, mountain butter and cream, treacly cane sugar from Mauritius and fresh free range double yolked XL eggs from happy chickens living their best life on a mountain side then sadly it isn't working as these potentially microwaved limp offerings had all the hallmarks of vegetable oil and powdered egg factory manufacturing. The raspberry jam (I expected cloudberry) and runny sour cream helped but honestly if you were served this stuff in a local cafe you'd be reluctant to pay and you wouldn't return. Given it's a £150 a head they have a cheek serving this rubbish. Having loitered here two hours and looked around the hotel and its surroundings to relieve boredom I was glad ours was a brief visit. If the food served to guests is anything like the poor quality we got it has little going for it except the location. We have no desire to return.
Vesterland Feriepark Hytter, Hotell og Leikeland

We spent two nights in a one bedroom cottage here and we very satisfied with our stay. The cottage was clean, comfortable and spacious, with everything a visitor could need for a short stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, suggesting accommodation options that were the most useful to us rather than what we would pay most for. The resort is very conveniently placed for exploring local fjords, mountains etc. It's great for families, offering a warm pool and a large playing area with complicated climbing structures, inflatables, slides and play houses for children to enjoy.
Lærdal Hotel

A very basic hotel, which clearly is getting quite old now, which you can feel and see almost everywhere in the hotels exterior and some of the interior. If the price is right (low), and it is a short stay, I can recommend this Hotel. Positive things: 1) Location in good, but for exploring the Vestland of Norway with its fjords and lovely nature. Lærdal is a “middle sized” village, with good supermarket options (two big ones, EXTRA and KIWI). There is also Villaks centre, which is a museum for the history of salmon fishing. Quite interesting actually, is was pretty modern and newly refurbished. There are good views of the Fjord, but NOT from all windows in the hotel. You can sit outside and eat breakfast if weather allows. 2) Friendly and effective staff. Both the reception and restaurant was run by quite young but great staff. Breakfast buffet was quickly filled up, and tables cleared. 3) Room was actually OK, and quite newly refurbished. Bed was quite new, a good TV, but NO MINI BAR and NO Coffee / Tea facilities ! Negative Sides: 1) Quite expensive for what is was, during summer time. 2) Breakfast buffet was VERY limitied. Basically some bread, a few different types of cheap cured meats as ham, a few sliced cheeses, 1 type of fruit yoghurt and two cereals (no sugary ones), scrambled eggs, sausauges, baked beans. NO SALMON or quality items in the buffet. Ive had better breakfast at bed&breakfast places and 2 star hotels.

OK, the façade and the location don't give much. But for that the hotel is top inside. It seems to be completely re-renoved. We had a very large room with a very large modern bathroom. Breakfast buffet was also innocent. We would book again at any time.

The reception is good. In the entrance, we discover large rooms with large leather armchairs on which you can rest. The room assigned to us is upstairs, at the end of the building from the street. She is surprising. First of all, it is a very large room, furnished with several leather armchairs, with another single bed and an original piece of furniture. There are windows running the length of the room which are covered with large curtains. The view overlooks the fjord. Then, at the foot of the bed, there is a large television set facing the living room area and, attached to that, another smaller one facing the headboard. The bathroom is large and pleasant. The hotel is located in a quiet area and we heard no noise at night. Breakfast, which is taken in the hotel’s large dining room, is well stocked. A little less probably than the other hotels we have had. We didn't have dinner at the hotel, but it's possible. There are several options for a quick bite to eat very close to the hotel. For our part, we chose the Dampskipskaien café-bar, on the edge of the fjord, about a hundred meters from the hotel. Friendly, there are a lot of young people there. It's not a real restaurant. Note a choice of original beers. With a car, it is possible to park in front of the hotel or to the side, or even in the neighboring streets. The car park does not belong to the hotel and is therefore chargeable, at the most common rate in Norway (less than €2 per hour), but only during the day. It is free from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. We only spent one night in this hotel. It's a pleasant stopover before starting a day, for example by going by ferry to Kaupanger (the pier is really close and you can see a beautiful wooden church just before arriving there).
