Highlights: The wreck of the Liberty is on the beach of Tulamben. It is a wreck of the U.S. Navy during World War II. The nearby water is gentle, the water is clear, the visibility is high, and it is suitable for deep diving. The wreck of the Liberty is only 40 meters away from the shore. It is 3 meters deep, so just look down a little to see this magnificent view. The USS Liberty was built in New Jersey in 1918 and was soon requisitioned by the U.S. Navy. In May 1919, Liberty was decommissioned and lived a "civilian" life, until in November 1940, Liberty was requisitioned by the US military again. The Liberty was then torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in the Lombok Strait east of Bali. Because of too much water, the Liberty was stranded on the beach of Tulamben, and all the crew were rescued. Although the Liberty is very close to the shore, it does not mean that diving to see the "Freedom Shipwreck" is an easy thing, because Tulamben is full of pebbles of various sizes, and the shallow sea area is even denser. Therefore, it is recommended for relatively experienced divers to go.
