"The wish list of self-driving tours on the 10th Ring Island of Iceland is finally on the agenda before the long road to return home. ~ The first stop of self-driving •-Golden Circle 〇, the Golden Circle is the most mature tourist attraction in Iceland. National parks and Golden Waterfalls are not introduced in detail. I would recommend one of my favorite waterfalls in the Golden Circle - Bruarfoss Blue Secret Waterfall, which is absolutely beautiful!"

Featured in 2024 Global 50 - Hot Springs
Highlights: Blue Lagoon is located in Grindavik, Reykjanes Peninsula, southwest Iceland. It is a geothermal hot spring formed by some volcanic lava. The water temperature is about 37-39 degrees Celsius. The lake water is rich in minerals such as silicon and sulfur, which makes the lake appear faint blue. The hot spring experience Blue Lagoon has now become a symbol of Iceland. Many people come to Iceland and choose to take a good bath here. Don't forget to apply some silica mud on your face as a mask when you soak in the hot spring. The silica mud here is volcanic mud and contains many minerals. In addition, you can go to the sauna on the shore to steam for a while, and then come out to continue soaking. If you catch the snow, soak your body in warm water, and look up at the white snow flying in the sky, you will feel very unusual.

"Hall Grimms Cathedral, Iceland, this church is a very memorable church, from the appearance, very simple and elegant atmosphere. Listening to locals, this church has been built for almost half a century or so."

Highlights: Hall Grimes Church is located on a hill in the center of Reykjavik and is named after the famous Icelandic writer Hal Grimes in honor of his great contribution to Icelandic literature. The church was built in 1930 and is a landmark building in Reykjavik. The statue of Sigurdsson in front of the church was built in memory of Leifur Eiriksson, the father of Icelandic independence. The church was designed by the famous Icelandic architect Gudjon Samuelsson. The foundation stone was laid in 1940. Due to the funds raised by the church and donations from believers, it took almost more than half a century to complete. The church has a novel design and is a pipe organ structure. The main hall is more than 30 meters high and can accommodate 1,200 people; the main tower is 72 meters high, and you can take the elevator to the top floor to overlook the whole picture of the capital. The shape of the lava left after the eruption of Iceland's volcano gave him inspiration for his creation. He used local creative materials and local building materials to design this church with new coordinates and Icelandic national style.

"Located more than 40 kilometers northeast of Lei City, in the park of ingvellir, which is listed as a world heritage by the World UNESCO, it is true that there is no historical significance. Some Iceland is the first country in the world to establish a parliament, although it is colonized by Norway and Denmark. For many years, as early as 930 in the park, Iceland established a parliament. I think it's really progressive. For Icelanders, this is a sacred pure land. For us, the symbolism is much weaker."
    Blaskogabyggd
    32.6km from downtown Blaskogabyggd
Highlights: Thingvellir National Park, located near Reykjavik, is the site of the world's oldest democratic parliament and is now the place where Icelanders hold festive events. The national park is near the Icelandic Rift Valley, the boundary between the Eurasian and American plates. Thingvellir National Park, as one of the filming locations of "Game of Thrones", is well known to many fans of the show.

"This is one of Iceland's most distinctive waterfalls, you can enjoy it behind the waterfall. It is 120 kilometers from the capital Reykjavik, located next to Highway 1 around the island. You can either visit the island or take a day trip in Reykjavik. It is worth punching in."
    Rangarthing eystra
    17.1km from downtown Rangarthing eystra
Highlights: Seljalandsfoss is located in southwest Iceland and is one of the waterfalls with the largest drop in Reykjavik. The lower level of Seljalandsfoss has a winding path, which can be followed to reach the back of the waterfall and enjoy the spectacular view of the waterfall from a unique perspective. The air here is fresh and the environment is elegant, which is a good place for leisure and vacation.

"Because Iceland is located on the mid-Atlantic ridge, it is a multi-volcano, geological landform with frequent geological activity, sandy texture, cooled lava plains and glaciers, it will have hot vapors below the surface all year round, and the response above the ground is full of smoke. I named it: the country with the most hot gas in the world. The picture is a big geyser. [View] Very beautiful. [Interesting] Very high. [Cost-effective] Very high."
    Blaskogabyggd
    6.1km from downtown Blaskogabyggd
Highlights: Located in the geothermally active Haukadauru Valley, the Great Geyser is the largest geyser in Iceland and a must-see attraction on the Golden Circle route. The Great Geyser is a round pool with a diameter of about 18 meters. The diameter of the spring in the pool is more than 10 cm, and the water temperature in the spring is as high as Baidu. Each eruption process lasts about 1-2 minutes, and then gradually subsides. This process is repeated and repeated, and it is very magnificent. There are other smaller geysers around the big geyser and the views are spectacular.

"The Golden Falls (Gullfoss) is located 125 kilometers northeast of Reykjavik, Iceland. It is 2,500 meters wide and 70 meters high. It is the largest fault canyon waterfall in Iceland. The Ta River forms two waterfalls here. The river below becomes narrower to rapids. After watching the Gaiser Geyser, it will be just right. The Golden Falls was the first waterfall I saw on this trip in Iceland and the week after that I would see almost every day like the church square in Central and Eastern Europe until the aesthetic fatigue said back to the Golden Falls. Under Icelandic law, the land is privately owned, so this waterfall originally belongs to a private attraction haha Does it sound a little strange? In 1975, the owner of the farm gave it to the Icelandic government as a natural reserve, and we have the freedom of access today. This waterfall is not the largest, but the water flow is abundant, and the geographical space is very large. The wind is particularly large. The splash is filled with water. You can feel it far away, so it still has some impact when taking pictures."

    34.9km from downtown Hrunamannahreppur
Highlights: As one of the must-see attractions in Iceland, the Golden Falls have a reason to do their part. The river flows straight down from a height of 32 meters and is divided into two levels. From a distance, it looks like two rainbows rushing along the Great Rift Valley. The scene is very spectacular. After a heavy rain, you can also see a large rainbow across the waterfall. A monument was erected next to the waterfall in memory of a civilian woman.

Highlights: The "sand" of the black beach is actually granular volcanic lava. These lava particles have no impurities, no mud and dust. When you hold a handful, your hands are full of black, and when you shake it lightly, the black sand is scattered, but your hands are unstained, which is very strange. In addition, there is a peculiar lava mountain towering over the sea near the beach.

"You can see many volcanoes in Iceland, this is relatively famous, you can walk around the entire crater on foot, and you can also walk directly to the lake in the crater through the stairs. The water is very clear and you can see the typical ash landform around."
    Grimsnes- og Grafningshreppur
7.9km from downtown Grimsnes- og Grafningshreppur
Highlights: Kerið Crater Lake was formed in a volcanic eruption 6,500 years ago. After rainwater accumulated, this oval crater lake with a depth of about 55 meters and a diameter of 170 to 270 meters was formed. Due to the absorption of minerals from the surrounding soil, the lake is a ghostly green color and is one of the three most famous crater lakes in the world. Walking trails have been built around the lake for tourists to travel around the lake.

"The "Glacier Lake" lake is connected to the glacier, and the flow rate and flow are very large. The place connecting the lake is the famous "Diamond Beach" glacier that will fall on the ice, and then will be washed by the wolf to the shore, and the broken ice washed to the beach will shine from a distance towards the sun. Just like diamonds spilled on the ground, Gumei is called Diamond Beach. But because it is spring, (too warm 😅), there is no diamond ice on the beach mentioned in the travel book."
    Hornafjordur
    53.8km from downtown Hornafjordur
Highlights: The glacial lake, also called Jökulsárlón, is located at the southern end of the Vatnajökull glacier and is the largest and most famous glacial lake in Iceland. The bottom of the lake is 200 meters deep, making it the second deepest lake in Iceland. The water of the glacial lake is blue and clear, and many large ice blocks of various shapes float on the lake surface. The glaciers in the distance seemed to be enchanted by the sky. Before, they seemed to be water flowing from the glaciers, but they were frozen into ice in an instant, and time seemed to stand still at that moment. Taking an amphibious boat on the glacial lake to watch the floating ice of various shapes is a major feature of the glacier tour. The well-known Hollywood movies "Tomb Raider", "Batman is Born" and two James Bond films "Who and the Fight", "Iron King Kong Fighting the Big Crazy" and so on have all been filmed here.

"I have always wanted to see ice in Iceland. In this country, there is a cold air in the name. After I came to Watner Glacier National Park, I really had an experience. The scene in front of me was really shocked. For a country that has not been to the north. For Jiangnan baby, everything in front of him is a bit too dreamy. The glacier of Nuoda is endless. The surface is a bit gray. But in the distance is the blue of the sea and the sky. The first time I felt that the color of ice and snow was a bit good-looking. Since I came here for a thousand miles, the ice experience is indispensable. Less equipment or boarding the ice for a short walk or wearing a cold suit, sitting in a speedboat and strolling around the lake are excellent experiences. There are many choices in the visitor center. Choose one to experience it. It will definitely be a worthwhile trip."
    Reykjavik
    100km from downtown Reykjavik
Highlights: Vatnajökull National Park is located near the city of Horth in southeastern Iceland. The largest glaciers are second only to Antarctic glaciers and Greenland glaciers. At present, the glaciers in Vatnajökull National Park are the largest ice caps on earth except for the polar regions. It is strange that lava, craters and hot lakes are also distributed in the Vatnajökull glacier area. "A Song of Ice and Fire "It plays out here every day. Arriving at the glacier, the first thing that catches the eye is a piece of white that covers the sky and the earth, and the vast white background between the sky and the earth makes the tourists extremely small and timid. In front of this extremely primitive and cold nature, it seems that people return to the distant ice age. As one of the filming locations of "Game of Thrones", fans of the show can seem to hear the oath of the night watch echoing in their ears.
