Highlights: Lake Ohrid, which is shared by Macedonia and Albania, is located on the top of the mountain and was formed 3 million years ago. It is one of the oldest lakes in Europe. The existing life in the lake is almost the same as that of the Tertiary period 50 million years ago, and it is also a treasure trove of regional species, where the endangered Ohrid salmon lives. There are also relics of human settlements in the Neolithic Age. In addition to attracting biologists and archaeologists, the clear blue Ohrid Lake is surrounded by mountains, with steep lake shores and beautiful scenery. It is a holiday destination for Macedonians and tourists from all over the world.
