Spending a daytime exploring Aix-en-Provence feels like stepping into a beautiful Provençal postcard. Known for its elegant architecture, charming squares, colourful markets and tree-lined boulevards, this lovely city is full of character and Mediterranean charm.

One of the best ways to discover Aix is simply by walking through its historic centre. Start along the famous Cours Mirabeau, with its beautiful plane trees, elegant fountains, cafés and lively atmosphere. Wander through the narrow cobbled streets of the old town, where you’ll find charming boutiques, little bakeries, art galleries and hidden squares that invite you to slow down and enjoy the moment.

Don’t miss Place de l’Hôtel de Ville and its picturesque surroundings, as well as the traditional Provençal markets, where colourful flowers, fresh fruit, local cheeses and regional specialities bring the streets to life.

My tips: Visit in the morning when the markets are at their liveliest and the streets are still relatively peaceful. Wear comfortable shoes, take time for a coffee at one of the outdoor terraces and try a traditional calisson, the famous almond-shaped sweet speciality of Aix. Don’t limit yourself to the main boulevard – some of the prettiest corners are hidden in the smaller streets.

If you enjoy photography, look for the beautiful fountains, pastel façades and charming café terraces. The soft daylight makes the whole city feel especially inviting.

Aix-en-Provence is not a place to rush through. It’s a destination to enjoy slowly, with good coffee, beautiful architecture and a little taste of the authentic Provençal lifestyle. A perfect daytime escape! 🌸
