BEIJING ON THE MAP: A GUIDE TO THE CITYโ€™S TOP ATTRACTIONS

โ€œBeijing is a city where distances are easily underestimated.โ€@Fedoriada ยท 2 days ago
BEIJING CBD: ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ 1 DAY IN THE MOST FUTURISTIC PART OF CHINA! ๐Ÿ™๏ธ

7 MUST-SEE PLACES IN MODERN BEIJING โ€” THE PERFECT 1-DAY ITINERARY!

Most tourists visit Beijing for the Great Wall, Forbidden City and ancient temples. But there's another side of China's capital that many travelers completely miss!

Welcome to Beijing CBD (Central Business District), where extraordinary skyscrapers, futuristic architecture, luxury shopping malls and incredible city views make you feel like you've stepped into the future.

After exploring Beijing myself, I want to share a one-day route that combines some of the city's most impressive modern landmarks, photography locations and hidden architectural gems.

๐Ÿ“ SAVE THIS ROUTE FOR YOUR NEXT TRIP TO BEIJING!

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ MY PERFECT 1-DAY BEIJING CBD ITINERARY

๐Ÿ“ 09:00 โ€” STOP 1: GUOMAO STATION (ๅ›ฝ่ดธ็ซ™)

Start your adventure at Guomao subway station, served by Metro Lines 1 and 10.

This is one of the most convenient starting points for exploring Beijing's modern business district.

As soon as you step outside, you'll be surrounded by enormous skyscrapers, modern shopping centers and impressive architecture.

๐Ÿ“ธ My tip: Look up! Some of the best photographs in Beijing CBD are taken from street level, with skyscrapers towering above you.

๐Ÿ“ 09:45 โ€” STOP 2: CHINA WORLD TRADE CENTER

Explore one of Beijing's most recognizable business complexes.

The area is filled with impressive office towers, glass facades and modern plazas.

One of its highlights is China World Summit Wing, located in China World Tower 3, which offers elevated views from its upper-floor hospitality venues.

๐Ÿ“ธ Photography tip: Try capturing reflections of surrounding skyscrapers in the glass buildings.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST UNUSUAL BUILDINGS I'VE EVER SEEN!

The CCTV Headquarters is famous for its extraordinary loop-shaped design, created by OMA, led by architects Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren.

Instead of a traditional skyscraper, two towers connect to form a giant architectural loop.

It looks completely different depending on the angle!

๐Ÿ“ธ My personal experience: I discovered that photographing this building is much harder than it looks. It's so enormous that I had to walk farther away to fit the whole structure into one frame! ๐Ÿ˜…

๐Ÿ’ก Important: Admire and photograph the building from public areas. Don't assume the headquarters is open for tourist visits.

๐Ÿ“ 12:15 โ€” STOP 4: CHINA WORLD MALL ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Time for lunch and a little break!

China World Mall is a great place to escape the weather, enjoy a meal, explore shops or grab a coffee.

You'll find a mix of restaurants, cafes and international brands.

๐Ÿœ My recommendation: Try a Chinese restaurant for lunch rather than choosing familiar international fast food.

๐Ÿ“ 14:00 โ€” STOP 5: BEIJING SKP

If you're interested in shopping, luxury brands or modern retail design, consider visiting Beijing SKP.

It's one of the city's best-known luxury department stores.

Even if you're not planning to buy anything, it's an interesting place to experience another side of modern Beijing.

๐Ÿ’ก Travel tip: SKP is outside the central Guomao cluster, so use the metro or a taxi to avoid a long walk.

๐Ÿ“ 16:00 โ€” STOP 6: BEIJING CBD ARCHITECTURE WALK ๐Ÿšถ

Return toward the central CBD and explore its streets, public plazas and impressive skyscrapers.

Don't rush from landmark to landmark!

One of my favorite things about this district was simply walking around and discovering unexpected photography angles.

Look for:

๐Ÿ™๏ธ Extraordinary skyscraper designs

๐Ÿ“ธ Reflections in glass buildings

๐ŸŒณ Landscaped public spaces

๐Ÿข Interesting perspectives between the towers

๐Ÿšถ Modern city life beyond the usual tourist attractions

๐Ÿ“ 17:30โ€“19:00 โ€” STOP 7: CBD SKYLINE AT SUNSET ๐ŸŒ‡

THIS IS MY FAVORITE TIME TO EXPLORE BEIJING CBD!

As the sun begins to set, the entire district changes.

Glass skyscrapers reflect the evening light, and the illuminated buildings create a completely different atmosphere.

Stay until after sunset to experience both daytime and nighttime Beijing.

๐Ÿ“ธ Photography tip: Arrive before sunset, photograph the skyline during golden hour, and stay for the blue hour when the city lights become more visible.

Sunset times vary by season, so adjust this stop to your travel date.

๐Ÿ“ธ MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

After spending time exploring Beijing's historical attractions, arriving in the CBD felt like entering a completely different city.

One day you're walking through centuries-old Chinese architecture, and the next you're surrounded by some of the most futuristic skyscrapers in Asia.

What surprised me most was the contrast.

And honestly, I spent more time photographing the CCTV Headquarters than I expected! ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿ’ก 7 USEFUL TIPS BEFORE VISITING

1. ๐Ÿš‡ Use the metro. Guomao Station is a convenient starting point, and public transport helps avoid Beijing's traffic.

2. ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Wear comfortable shoes. This itinerary includes plenty of walking, especially if you enjoy photography.

3. ๐Ÿ“ฑ Prepare mobile payments. Alipay and WeChat Pay are widely used in China. Set up a suitable payment method before traveling.

4. ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Download a map app. Amap (Gaode Maps) or Baidu Maps can help you navigate Beijing.

5. ๐Ÿ“ธ Bring a wide-angle camera lens. Some CBD buildings are extremely difficult to fit into a normal photograph.

6. ๐ŸŒ‡ Plan around sunset. Late afternoon and evening offer beautiful opportunities for architectural photography.

7. ๐Ÿ•’ Check access and opening hours. Shopping malls, restaurants and observation venues may have different schedules.

โญ MY REVIEW: IS BEIJING CBD WORTH VISITING?

Absolutely โ€” especially if you love architecture, photography and modern cities!

I wouldn't replace Beijing's famous historical attractions with the CBD, but I definitely recommend adding it to your itinerary.

You don't need to spend money on expensive attractions to enjoy the area. Simply walking around the district and admiring its architecture can be a memorable experience.

โค๏ธ MY BEST RECOMMENDATION

If you're visiting Beijing for the first time, combine the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and traditional neighborhoods with at least one day exploring modern Beijing.

You'll discover two completely different sides of China's capital!

๐Ÿ’ฌ YOUR TURN: Which Beijing would you rather explore โ€” ancient temples ๐Ÿฏ or futuristic skyscrapers ๐Ÿ™๏ธ?

When you travel, do you prefer to get tours or would you like to organize everything by yourself? For example, if you are going for a trip with multiple destinations like Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, or The Great Wall, would you organize it in your own time and means or would you get a tour agency to organize everything including pick up, transportation, tickets and lunch. Personally, I would choose the latter, because it is more convenient and easier to move around from one place to the other. And the fact that the transportation is included means that I will have more time to relax and enjoy instead of figuring out myself and rushing from one place to the other. Let's say with public transportation or with taxis. So I think that it's very important to get a good tour during your visit in a new destination and have the others settle everything up for you. What would you choose?
