The Mount Cook heli-hike is an unforgettable adventure that combines a thrilling helicopter ride with a guided walk on New Zealand's largest ice mass, the Tasman Glacier. The journey starts with a helicopter flight over Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. We arrived about 40 minutes earlier as we were advised to reach at least 30 minutes earlier. Before boarding, we were briefed with important information and changed the shoes provided. From the sky, we can see giant snow-covered mountains. Once we landed, we put on special spikes called crampons on our boots so we do not slip. Our guide Tori led us across the ice to explore the frozen landscape filled with blue cave and icy pathways. She is friendly and nice, took some wonderful photos for us. After spending about 1.5 hours exploring, the helicopter picked us up and flew us safely back to the base, leaving us with memories of an incredible alpine world.
