🏝️Expectations vs. Reality: How We Visited the Most Beautiful Beach on the Planet, Anse Source d'Argent
Anse Source d'Argent Beach on La Digue Island is perhaps the main reason to fly to the Seychelles. We really wanted to see those advertised pink granite boulders, and the reality did not disappoint!
The landscape here is truly celestial, with cliffs dividing the coastline into several cozy, secluded coves.
But this paradise has its own nuances, which are best known in advance. The beach is located within the old L'Union Estate park, so we paid about 150 rupees per person for the day's admission.
Getting here was quite a quest. First, we took a ferry from Mahé to Praslin, from there we took a boat to La Digue, and once on the island, we rented bicycles right at the pier. There are almost no cars there, so pedaling downhill is an adventure in itself.
The most important tip: be sure to check the tide schedule! We arrived at low tide for the first time—the water had receded so far that the ocean had turned into a shallow puddle, revealing the coral. We weren't able to swim, but we did wade knee-deep in the clear water and admire the colorful fish right at our feet. If you want to swim, choose high tide and be sure to bring coral slippers to avoid cutting your feet.
There are a lot of tourists here.
To get those epic shots without the crowds in the background, we arrived by bike at 8:30 am. At this time, the light is still soft, and it was just us and a couple of local guides on the beach.
I highly recommend renting a clear kayak right on the shore. The photos from the water against these giant rocks are simply incredible. This place is definitely worth it!
