Plan It or Wing It? My Royal Day Trip at Windsor Castle

Plan It or Wing It? My Royal Day Trip at Windsor Castle

“Every UK day trip lover faces the classic travel dilemma, and my visit to Windsor Castle gave me the clearest balance between laid-back wing-it exploration and non-negotiable planned sightseeing.”@heryisgb · 11 days ago
Living in London, I still gasp at the price of a single tube journey. Yes, this city is painfully expensive (my bank account cries daily 🫠), but you can absolutely do 5 days here and have the best time!

Here is my curated, budget-friendly 5-day survival guide. Grab your brolly and let's go! 🌧️👇

✨ My absolute faves:
· British Museum: It’s free! (Curator assistant perk: seeing the Rosetta Stone up close never gets old). Just book ahead!
· Tower Bridge & Big Ben: Best at twilight. Golden hour here is unmatched 🤩
· Borough Market: Foodie heaven. Go hungry, leave happy.
· Notting Hill: Colourful houses and cute market stalls. Peak relaxation.

📅 The 5-Day Cheat Sheet:
D1: Big Ben walk -> Tower Bridge at night 🌉
D2: British Museum -> Trafalgar Square -> Covent Garden eats
D3: Royal vibes at Buckingham Palace -> Notting Hill wandering 🌸
D4: Day trip to Windsor Castle (v. historical, v. pretty)
D5: Feasting at Borough Market 🤤

💡 How to save your pennies:
1. Tap in with contactless or an Oyster card! Never buy single paper tickets, please.
2. Hit up local pubs in residential areas for Sunday roast or Shepherd's pie instead of pricey tourist-trap restaurants.
3. Pack layers. The British weather is basically a moody teenager.

More Than Just Peppa Pig 🐷🎢 | A Perfect Family Day Out
We visited Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park as a family, and one thing I really liked was that the day wasn't only about Peppa Pig rides for the little ones. There was actually something for everyone. 🐷🎢❤️
Of course, the children absolutely loved the colourful Peppa Pig World and seeing their favourite characters up close. Those little moments made the day extra special for us, especially seeing how excited they were. 🥹💗
What surprised me was the variety of rides. There are plenty of fun rides for younger children, but older children and adults can enjoy rides around Paultons Park too, so the whole family can have a good time rather than just watching the little ones. 🎢
I also loved some of the outdoor areas. 🌳🌸 There are colourful surroundings and lovely little spots where you can stop for family photos — definitely worth taking your camera out while walking around. 📸
For families with toddlers, having indoor play areas is another bonus. It gives little ones a chance to play and can be a nice change from spending the entire day outside. 🧸
And you definitely won't struggle when it's time for a food break! 😋 We found a variety of places to grab food and drinks around the park, and of course an ice cream stop makes a theme-park day even better. 🍦❤️
For us, it was one of those days where everyone could enjoy something — rides, characters, playtime, food and lots of family memories. If your children love Peppa Pig, I would definitely recommend considering it for a family day out. 🐷✨
🐷 Perfect for: Families & Peppa Pig fans
🎢 Best part: Rides for different ages
🧸 For little ones: Indoor play areas + toddler-friendly fun
📸 Don't forget: Stop at the colourful spots for family photos
🍦 Food break: Plenty of options + ice cream
👟 My tip: Comfortable shoes — you'll be doing plenty of walking!
