Ideal for commuters

The Network Railcard provides a 1/3 discount on most UK rail fares for those travelling in London and South East England. This discount applies to 3 additional adults (aged 16+), who will also each receive 1/3 off their ticket price, and up to 4 children (aged 5–15), who receive a 60% discount on their tickets - all they have to do is travel with the named cardholder.

The Network Railcard costs just €41.90 for 1 year, and cardholders enjoy average annual savings of €184.34*, though there is unlimited usage during the one-year validity period. Tickets valid for reduced fares include Standard, Off-Peak, Travelcards and more, and a €15.56 minimum fare applies from Monday to Friday.

We recommend the Network Railcard to:

  1. Regular travellers in South East England and London
  2. Commuters travelling during Off-Peak hours
  3. Groups, including families and friends, who frequently travel together
*Based on the average savings made by Network Railcard holders between April 2024 and March 2025, excluding the price of the Railcard itself

EXcellent

Based on 176231 review

We came across your site when looking…

We came across your site when looking for a Senior Railcard for my wife (I already had one). A lot cheaper than through the Railcard site. We also each had a better ticket price than GWR for our Swindon to Paddington return trip. Will definitely explore Trip.com more in coming weeks.

Network Railcard FAQs

Buying and renewing your Network Railcard

  • What is a Network Railcard?

A Network Railcard allows travellers in London and the South East to save 1/3 on most UK rail fares. Up to 3 accompanying adults (aged 16 or over) can also save 1/3. Up to 4 accompanying children aged 5–15 can get 60% off their tickets, provided they're travelling with the named cardholder.

  • How much is a Network Railcard?

A Network Railcard costs just £35 for a year's worth of discount travel, though Trip.com often offer great Railcard deals, so stay tuned for even lower prices!

  • Is it worth getting a Network Railcard?

Absolutely, but only if you travel frequently within London and/or South East England. Network Railcard owners save around £138* on average per year, which, when you remove the cost of the Railcard itself, means you save over £100. We think that's definitely worth it - especially as you can save more if you travel more!

  • Is a Network Railcard better than a 26-30 Railcard?

Whether a Network Railcard or a 26-30 Railcard is better depends on your specific travel needs and circumstances.

The 26-30 Railcard covers the vast majority of Great Britain, whereas the Network Railcard only serves South East England and London. This means the 26-30 Railcard is much more versatile. However, the Network Railcard's discount extends to up to 4 adults and 4 children, meaning more can be saved on group journeys. Although the cost of the Railcards is the same at £35 for a year, there are more ticket restrictions for Network Railcards compared with 26-30 Railcards, including First Class and Advance tickets.

Ultimately, you should consider where you may want to travel, who with, and at what times before choosing your Railcard, as both Railcard types have their own benefits.

  • How can I renew my Network Railcard?

You can easily renew your Railcard online!

    1. On the Trip.com app, go to "Account", select the settings icon in the top-right corner, and ensure that your country or region is set to the United Kingdom.
    2. Go to "Home" > "Trains" > "My Railcards".
    3. Select the option to renew your expired or nearly expired Railcard.

Using your Network Railcard

  • When can you use a Network Railcard?

Network Railcards offer discounts for any journey made after 10 AM Mondays to Fridays, and at any time on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Note that a minimum charge of £13 applies to weekday journeys.

  • How to use a Network Railcard

It’s simple! When you book your train ticket, an option to add a Railcard will be displayed. Simply select the Network Railcard (which will only appear on valid routes) and get your discount! You will likely be asked to present your Network Railcard when on board, so have it with you to avoid penalty fares.

  • Where does a Network Railcard cover?

You can only use a Network Railcard for journeys within the designated Network Railcard area, which includes most stations within London and South East England. This region covers many well-connected destinations such as Brighton, Oxford, Reading, and Gatwick Airport, among others. You can refer to this National Rail map to see which stations are covered.
  • Does a Network Railcard work on the Tube?

No, you cannot use a Network Railcard to get discounted tickets for journeys that take place entirely on the London Underground or Docklands Light Railway. However, discounts may apply to cross-London rail journeys that include a transfer on the Underground between National Rail stations.

  • How many people can travel on a Network Railcard?

Besides yourself, you can travel with up to 3 additional adults, and up to 4 additional children (aged 5 to 15 years). The adults can get 1/3 off, and the children can get 60% off.

  • Can you add a Network Railcard to an Oyster card?

No, you cannot add a Network Railcard to your Oyster card. However, discounted tickets purchased for London rail journeys that involve travel on the London Underground are permitted.

  • Can I get a discount on season tickets with a Network Railcard?

No, a Network Railcard will not give you discounts on season tickets or travelcard season tickets.

  • Do you need a photo for the Network Railcard?

Yes, you will need a passport-style photo for your Network Railcard. Be sure to have one ready when you are applying!

  • Do digital Network Railcards work on older iPhone models?

Yes, as long as your app is up-to-date and your device supports mobile ticketing features.

  • If I buy a Network Railcard with Trip.com, can I use it with tickets bought elsewhere?

Absolutely - your 26-30 Railcard is available across all UK train services and providers. You can still apply a Railcard to train bookings made through other channels, just be sure to have the Trip.com app (where your 26-30 Railcard is stored) ready to present to any ticket inspector when you travel.
