Known as one of the "must-stay hotels in a lifetime," The Lalu at Sun Moon Lake was personally designed by the legendary architect Kerry Hill. Its minimalist style echoes the Zen landscape of Sun Moon Lake, adhering to a design philosophy of coexistence with nature. The understated yet stylish design, combined with meticulous and thoughtful service, makes it a representative of Taiwan's top luxury resorts, perfect for families to experience the beauty of Zen and nature.
The Lalu offers a unique serene and ethereal atmosphere, where every view brings a sense of physical and mental comfort, as if time stands still, allowing children to find tranquility amid the noisy world.
Departing from Taipei, after a three-hour drive, we finally arrived at the hotel entrance. The hotel provides considerate valet parking service, so you don’t have to worry about finding a parking spot yourself; when you need your car, just inform the staff, and someone will bring it right to you, making traveling with kids super hassle-free.
Entering the lobby, the elegant, warm, yet unpretentious style greets you. The semi-open space design immediately gives a full sense of vacation leisure, and children can instantly relax.
The hotel consists of two buildings:
Floors 1-3 are lakeside suites, more affordable and closer to the lake surface, allowing children to experience the lake’s tranquility up close.
Floors 4-5 are lake view suites, located on higher floors, offering a broader view of Sun Moon Lake and Lalu Island, with excellent vistas and relatively higher prices.
This stay was in a lake view suite. Although The Lalu has been around for over a decade, it is very well preserved, showing hardly any signs of aging, and the facilities remain excellent.
Upon opening the door, the first thing that catches the eye is the living area, with freshly bloomed lotus flowers placed above the dining table, fresh and elegant. The room features understated and elegant wooden design, equipped with a king-size bed, spacious and comfortable. The biggest surprise is the balcony facing the famous Sun Moon Lake and Lalu Island. Staying with kids by Sun Moon Lake, the most delightful thing is enjoying the stunning lake view right from the room, falling asleep accompanied by the lake and mountain scenery.
Both the lake view and lakeside suites have an extra-large balcony facing the lake, furnished with a tea table, chairs, and a sofa bed. Lying here with the kids, watching the calm lake and feeling the gentle breeze is truly one of life’s great pleasures.
On the first floor is The Lalu’s infinity pool. To give guests the ultimate experience of swimming as if in Sun Moon Lake itself, the hotel repeatedly removed and redid the pool’s stone tiles several times, showing their extreme attention to detail. Playing in the pool with kids feels like merging with Sun Moon Lake, full of fun.
On the lakeside loungers, reading with the kids, enjoying the sunshine, slowing down your pace and mood, and experiencing the slow life of Japanese Zen is very pleasant.
The water pool at The Lalu’s main entrance floats elegant lotus flowers during the day, and at night, it is replaced by twinkling lights that adorn the gradually darkening night scene, creating a breathtaking view.
The next morning at 5:29 AM, mist enveloped the lake surface, presenting a hazy beauty. Capturing these wonderful moments with the kids through the lens, the calm lake emits a particularly quiet aura, allowing one to have a good conversation with their soul and letting children feel the tranquility and wonder of nature.
Staying with kids at The Lalu Sun Moon Lake lets you enjoy the stunning lake and mountain scenery, experience the slow life of Zen, and enjoy thoughtful and attentive service. It is definitely an unforgettable family vacation experience in Taiwan!
