Qasr Al Hosn

Built in 1793, the Ehsen Palace is the oldest building in Abu Dhabi. It used to be the residence of the Sheikh family, the government department and the trial court. Today the palace remains in its more primitive state, showing the historical character of Abu Dhabi. The strong Middle Eastern style Eichsen Palace is built in the form of a castle with pure white walls, so it is also called "white castle". However, it was no longer "white" until after the renovation from 1976-1983, the palace was restored to its original appearance. The elegant diamond lattice windows can be seen on the gate, while the Arabian oil lamps on the wall, the surrounding wind towers and fortress buildings have a strong Middle Eastern atmosphere. The interior of the palace is also a museum, which displays traditional prehistoric artifacts and historical pictures of the UAE. The exhibits include a natural history section, Abu Dhabi history section, etc. The natural history section mainly introduces the evolution history of animals living in desert environments; while the history section of Abu Dhabi has many historical artifacts, such as pottery and handicrafts. In addition, the QasrAlHosnFestival will hold the QasrAlHosnFestival in the Eichsen Palace every February. At that time, tourists can participate in a guided tour to enter the palace, and there will be various traditional cultural performances and other activities.
