Clamlin Road Prison, which was scrapped after 1996, has become a attraction. In addition to the appearance of the building, most of the inside are model or simulation scenes, but after all, it is a prison, it cannot be a real scene. When I visited the C wing's cell, I didn't turn on the heating. The cold cell was colder than the outside. It was so cold that I couldn't concentrate on listening to the explanation. First of all, I didn't lament that the British were so particular about it, and it took so much effort to build a prison. And the designer of this prison is also the designer of the botanical garden greenhouse (the Palm House). After being sent, the offenders come to a room for physical examination and will be given a numbered cloth bag, replaced with a prison uniform, which will replace their name and accompany their prison life. The scene here is exactly what it was. The tunnel was built in 1849/50 years and runs from the prison to the court across the road. It is about1.5 meters from the ground. To prevent prisoners from fleeing, cement was also reinforced in the section near the court.
A special attraction is indeed a bit gloomy, including cells, interrogation rooms, lockdown rooms, etc. Although it has been so many years, it can realistically restore the scene at that time. It feels a little creepy.
The furnishings in the prison are somewhat creepy, but they are a rare experience.
There are not many opportunities like this, in fact, it is different from our domestic visit.
