This is a place away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is very close to the tourist attractions in Kathmandu and the best option is to arrive by taxi. The price of arriving here from the Tamil community is between 1000-1500 rupees. I suggest you not to walk back from the temple as that road is difficult to walk. The temple is very clean and if you arrive between 9 and 10 you will have the opportunity to see the monks praying, after which you can enter the prayer hall and take pictures. Remember that the monks are not allowed to take pictures when praying. The prayer hall also has a large garden where you can relax and enjoy the views of Kathmandu. Also, some places are forbidden for visitors, but if you see signs that say “No entry”, it means that cars (taxis) cannot enter. Great, it’s free to visit.

This is a Tibetan temple, in the suburbs to make it seem quiet and peaceful, in the big city for a long time, slowly like the silence here. Also, I prefer the story of the reincarnation of the living Buddha, deeply feel the wonderfulness of reincarnation and the preciousness of life. The people who come here are very religious, I think they all respect life. There is also a small garden, which is especially comfortable to walk around.
I came back in February to attend the 10-day beginner course, which is just one reason I saved money back to Asia. Your experience will always accompany you. Learn about Buddhist philosophy here, there are libraries and cafes, great views, interesting speeches, lovely nuns and monks, you will want to come to the next course (longer). The masters are very kind and friendly, and they also walk out of their daily practice accommodations for visitors to visit. You get out of here, and the whole person changes. See you next time, Gaoban Temple!
I came here with my mom for a week and we stayed here and it felt great. We didn’t know much about Buddhism, but we were well received and all questions answered. The library here is really a good resource, there is a cafe here, but the meal is provided by the temple. Convenience stores are very necessary, if you forget to bring something or want snacks to buy, the monks here are super good! It feels great here, it is very comfortable to live, I highly recommend you to try it! Damo dialogue is very good, I want to go back to class again, everyone who talks to me is very passionate!
Gaoban Temple is a beautiful Tibetan monastery located in the suburbs of Nepal. It is worth a visit and you can see Buddha statues, pagodas and beautiful decorations. It feels great.
