We chose to climb up Mount Ainslie from the War Memorial, although you can also drive or bike to see it. You have to find the starting point before you actually go straight, which is a bit difficult because the signposts are not very good. We parked our car in front of the War Memorial and walked up. It was a good road, some sections were quite steep. You make sure you bring enough water as there was nothing to replenish along the way. We spent nearly an hour and a half, including time to enjoy the view and take pictures. Canberra is a beautiful and well planned city.
It should be the last time I came to Mount Ainslie to watch the sunset. I remembered that I had finished the morning work on the long winter weekend, sat in the car for an hour and then slowly waited for the sunset day. I have to start saying goodbye to the city. Today I have finished a good goodbye to my friends. [Mickey Heart]
Mt Ainslie is one of Canberra's three commanding heights (and the Montenegrin Australian TV Tower). It is just north of the War Memorial, 842 meters high, very close, and very convenient to reach, you can hit the mountain, there is also a walkway to the top of the mountain observation deck. From the top of the mountain, you can overlook the War Museum, the ANZ Memorial Square - the old Capitol Building, the panoramic view of the central axis of Capitol Hill. How to get there: It takes about 30-45 minutes to climb the Ainslie Peak from the north of the War Memorial. If you don't like climbing, you can drive directly to the Peak. We took a taxi up the hill from the War Museum. Taxi was about $20.
Mount Ansley is a hill on the edge of Canberra, the mountain is not very high on the top of the mountain to have a bird's eye view of Canberra. It is a good place for residents to exercise and there will be many people here to run in the morning and evening.
It is just behind the War Museum. Looking at the map is very close and not very high. Come out of the museum and prepare to climb Mount Ainslie and ask the museum staff for the way up the mountain. The staff was very enthusiastic and knew that we wanted to walk up the mountain and shake our heads. Directly assisted us in calling a taxi. Australians are very civilized and enthusiastic, and they are also considerate of tourists, worthy of praise. From the museum to the top of Ansley, a taxi is about A$20.
