Cetigne monastery (Cetinje Monastery), built in the Middle Ages. 1561-1851 the residence of the theocratic monarch (archbishop) Ivan Znoyevitz, who ruled the country in the year(Ivan Crnojevic) Due to its geographical location, Montenegro often fought wars with Albania and Ottoman Turkey, and Cetigne was occupied by Turkish forces three times in 1692, 1714 and 1785, and the first time the defenders blew up the monastery with gunpowder, killing many of their own and Turks. The monastery was restored in 1701 and 1785.
