It's not Sanya, but the shock comes from the highest Guanyin statue in Southeast Asia
The area around Da Nang is quite suitable for motorbike riding. After returning from Haiyun Ridge in the afternoon, I went straight to the Shan Cha Peninsula to watch the sunset, keeping busy without a break.
We watched the sunset on the Shan Cha Peninsula at a place called Lingying Temple. This temple, built with donations from the Chinese community, is the largest in Da Nang. Its location is very unique; from any angle of the temple, you can look down and see the sea.
The most famous feature of the temple is the tallest white jade Guanyin statue in Southeast Asia, standing 67 meters tall with a diameter of 35 meters. It's no exaggeration to say that I could see its figure from the hotel on Da Nang's Meixi Beach, truly a colossal presence.
Below is a summary of places worth visiting on the Shan Cha Peninsula:
✅ Basket Boat: Close to the Shan Cha Peninsula, you will pass a port where you can see a cluster of basket boats on the beach, which the Vietnamese call CANO. The origin of the basket boat, it is said, dates back to the Nguyen dynasty, when local fishermen invented it to avoid fishing boat taxes. These basket boats are said to be very suitable for nearshore fishing, can navigate through coconut groves, and even perform difficult maneuvers like drifting and circling.
✅ Mountain Gate: Following the steep stairs upwards, you soon reach the mountain gate. The gate is very Chinese in style, resembling temples in Fujian, with its eaves curling upwards and the carvings on the roof ridge vividly alive. Each archway is adorned with a couplet in Chinese characters, which we find very familiar, though most local Vietnamese probably don't recognize them.
✅ Daxiong Hall: Not far past the mountain gate is the main hall. The eaves of the main hall are made of green tiles, different from ordinary buildings, and blend perfectly with the natural backdrop of green pines. The main hall also looks simple and majestic, without too much intricate decoration. Four coiled dragon stone pillars support the entire hall, with dragons winding from top to bottom on the pillars, and the carving of the dragon's body and head is exquisitely detailed, reminding me of Quanzhou.
✅ Linglong Pagoda: Next to the temple on a higher ground stands a Chinese-style pagoda. This pagoda has 9 floors, each with 6 eaves, totaling 54 dragons, each one vividly alive, with Chinese characters and patterns visible everywhere. But just when you think you're still in China, the intrusion of Vietnamese characters brings you back to reality.
✅ Guanyin Statue: Of course, the most popular attraction in the temple is the white jade Guanyin statue, taller than a 20-story building. The statue backs against the mountain and faces the sea, with eyes looking down, overseeing all beings. One hand holds a lotus gesture, and the other a vase of nectar, symbolizing the sprinkling of peace water on fishermen at sea, turning fierce winds and giant waves into calm seas. She stands like a guardian deity, blessing Da Nang with peace and favorable weather.
Of course, in terms of refinement and scale, this Guanyin statue is still quite inferior to the Nanshan Guanyin statue in Sanya, but the atmosphere of Lingying Temple is better, without the heavy commercial vibe, and more of a devout atmosphere.

⭕ Note | You can park your motorbike at the parking lot at the foot of the mountain, and then you can walk up the mountain. Be aware that there are quite a few monkeys near the parking lot, comparable to Mount Emei, so it's best to carry a bamboo pole for protection.
the most famous pagoda in Danang Vietnam. From here you can see all of Danang City
Very cool place. The complex has voluntary parking for motorbikes which is nice.A little crowded and it seems the tourists go over the top with feeding the monkeys (which you're not actually supposed to do).Of course the statue is awesome.
Lin Ung Temple is a temple with a large Guanyin located on the sea of Da Nang on Son Tra Island, a beautiful viewpoint of Da Nang. You can drive in the morning or charter a taxi. It is about 20 minutes from Da Nang city. On the way up to the temple there is a Santorini-themed cafe Son Tra Marina. Enjoy drinks and snacks.
A must-visit place! A huge seawater Guanyin statue that makes you think you are the captain of Da Nang! It is a key tourist destination. No matter how much time you don't have, you must go and see the Seawater Guanyin statue. When you arrive at the parking lot, you can take about an hour to see the sightseeing. Among those who travel freely, those who travel leisurely in time should go around every corner. People don't go to every corner, but there are a lot of things to see. There are many photographers around the Guanyin statue of the sea water, but it is worth paying and taking pictures. Take a good picture and print the picture separately and even coat it. The picture comes out, but it took about 5 minutes to print and even coat it. In particular, it is a pretty good choice for those who think of group photos to pay and take pictures. If you grab a grab, the driver will make a round trip suggestion while riding. Then you wait in the parking lot while you are sightseeing. If you ask for the fee, we will suggest a round-trip fee. It's comfortable to do this with each other and good in many ways.
