Qatar was one of those destinations that surprised me with its unique contrast. One moment you’re surrounded by the calm of the desert, and the next you’re walking through a modern city filled with impressive architecture, bright lights, and futuristic skylines. 🏜️🌆 Exploring Doha was a completely different experience — from the traditional atmosphere of Souq Waqif and its narrow streets to the beautiful Corniche and the modern skyline across the water. Every area seemed to show a different side of the country. ✨ What I loved most was seeing how Qatar combines its traditions with modern life without losing its identity. The culture, architecture, food, and landscapes all came together to create a memorable trip. 📍 Qatar 🇶🇦 A small country with a lot to discover — where desert landscapes meet one of the most modern cityscapes in the region. 🌙✨ #Qatar #Doha #QatarTravel #VisitQatar #DohaQatar #TravelDiaries #MiddleEastTravel #ExploreQatar #TravelMemories #Wanderlust #TravelPhotography #ExploreTheWorld

I never expected Doha to rewrite the meaning of "eternity" in my dictionary in such a way 🏛️ It wasn't until I stood before the Museum of Islamic Art that I realized some buildings aren't just for shelter, but for engaging in a quiet romance with a thousand-year-old civilization 💫 This was I.M. Pei's final masterpiece at age 91. He came out of retirement to design this last major cultural building for Doha, presenting a sense of precise, geometric eternity ✨ It is said that Mr. Pei spent 6 months traveling deep into the Arab region for inspiration, eventually finding his core inspiration in the ablution fountain of the Mosque of Ibn Tulun in Cairo, Egypt 🧠 At that moment, I could almost see an old man quietly gazing at the fountain's spray in the twilight, then folding those ripples, inch by inch, into his blueprints 📐 To perfectly showcase this building, Mr. Pei suggested reclaiming land 60 meters offshore to create an island as the site 🏝️ This created a 360-degree sea view, making the building like a sacred monument on the water, paying tribute to a thousand-year-old civilization through pure architectural language 🙏 Standing on the island, watching the seawater surround the building in a gentle circle of blue, I suddenly felt that this was not just a museum, but a love letter sealed by the sea 💌 The building consists of two connected structures, with a central courtyard linking the 4,225-square-meter main building and the 2,694-square-meter educational exhibition area 🔗 The main building is angular and majestic, featuring French cream-colored Magny-Chantillon limestone, American flamed granite, and a German stainless steel dome that shines like a jewel 💎 Sunlight falls on the stone, glowing with a nearly soft shimmer, much like the sentences about distant places I read in novels during my youth 📖 The main building features 5 floors of exhibition halls, centered around a 50-meter-high vaulted atrium with an oval structure at the top 🏗️ The interior space is constructed with precisely cast architectural concrete, and the embedded small domes were molded individually. The exhibition hall floors are paved with dark gray porphyry, and the brushed Brazilian rosewood presents a metallic texture ✨ Walking through it, my footsteps were gently absorbed by the space, leaving only my heartbeat echoing softly in the vast, quiet hall 💓 The design philosophy is even more intoxicating. In the architecture, one can see the axis-symmetric layout of Islamic gardens, waterways, and the symbolism of paradise, as well as the subtle balance between modern and traditional, minimalist and complex opposites ⚖️ The building is composed of 5 layers of cubes rotated and stacked, forming a fractal geometric relationship that is similar yet different. The exterior presents precise axial symmetry, while the interior space achieves central symmetry through the atrium dome, with dual geometric orders intersecting in the 50-meter-high atrium 💫 At that moment, I finally understood that so-called eternity is just folding time into geometry and placing it quietly by the sea 🌊 Doha, a relaxing 3-day getaway 👇 Day 1: Sea and geometry 🏛️ Morning: Step into the Museum of Islamic Art and get lost in I.M. Pei's lines; afternoon: take a walk by the sea in the Museum Park and watch Doha's skyline sway on the water; evening: return to the steps outside the museum and watch the sunset dye the limestone gold 🌅 Day 2: The heartbeat of the old city 💫 Morning: Stroll through Souq Waqif, wandering through the scents of spices and fabrics; afternoon: visit the National Museum of Qatar and experience a different kind of architectural poetry in the shape of the desert rose; evening: walk along the Corniche and watch the night lights turn on one by one 🌟 Day 3: Farewell and reunion ✨ Morning: Visit Katara Cultural Village and spend time between galleries and theaters; afternoon: have a cup of coffee by the sea on The Pearl-Qatar ☕ evening: return to the Museum of Islamic Art, take one last look at that monument on the sea, and embark on the journey home with the light and shadow of Doha 🧳

From Madrid, we hopped on Qatar Airways to the must-visit city of Doha! I used to think, "The Middle East... isn't that expensive?" but to my surprise, there are so many high-quality sights you can enjoy for free! The infrastructure is brand new and spotless, and the local hospitality makes it incredibly easy to navigate. 📅 4-Day Itinerary 📍 Day 1: Starting at a Picture-Perfect Port! Spent the morning around Old Doha Port. The colorful "Mina District" is a photographer's dream, with every corner being perfectly photogenic. The fish market, with its stunning tiles and stained glass, was absolutely beautiful. At Old Doha Miniature, the detailed models of the region are fascinating and well worth a look. In the evening, we enjoyed an Arabian dinner at the traditional Souq Waqif. 📍 Day 2: Culture at Katara & Thrills in the Desert! Morning visit to Katara Cultural Village. The "Gold Mosque" decorated with gold leaf and the blue-tiled "Katara Mosque" are absolute must-sees. There are also plenty of shops and art galleries to explore. In the afternoon, we went on a Desert Safari! Camel rides and dune bashing in a 4x4 were such a rush. *Tip: You'll get covered in sand, so wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and sunglasses are a must! 📍 Day 3: Futuristic Education City & Skyline Views We spent the third day exploring Education City. We took the free tram around the campus to see the innovative architecture of the Education City Mosque and the Qatar National Library, which feels like a massive, modern archaeological site. In the afternoon, we strolled through the luxury streets of The Pearl-Qatar, and finished the night admiring the glittering skyline of Lusail and the Corniche. 📍 Day 4: Deep Doha! Palace Camels & Falcons On our final day, we returned to Souq Waqif for a deeper look. We had a blast getting lost in the narrow alleys hunting for Arabian souvenirs! The corridor of Turkish lamps in the Art Street was enchanting. We also visited the Camel Pen to see the animals up close. In the evening, we watched the camel parade near the Amiri Diwan (Royal Palace), checked out the handsome birds at the Falcon Souq, and relaxed by looking at the animals in the pet shop. 🏚️ Recommended Hotel Hampton by Hilton Doha Old Town Address: Emraeer Street, Old Al Ghanim, Doha, Qatar Why we loved it: Located right next to the National Museum of Qatar. If you walk through the museum grounds, it's very easy to access the Metro. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was excellent, with a rotating menu that kept things fresh even during a long stay! 📌 Practical Tips for DIY Travelers 💡 Best Way to Move: Metro + Taxis The Doha Metro is insanely cheap—about 2 QAR ($0.55) per ride or a daily cap of 6 QAR ($1.65)! However, since stations can be a bit far from specific spots, using apps like Uber or Karwa Taxi is a smart way to get around. Fares are much cheaper than in Japan. 💡 October Weather & Heat Even in October, daytime temperatures can reach nearly 40°C (104°F). It only starts to cool down after 4 PM. Sun protection (hats, sunglasses, sunscreen) is essential. Also, indoors and transit areas are heavily air-conditioned, so bring a light layer to stay comfortable. 💡 Cash Alert: Watch the Year! Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere, including the souqs, but you might need cash for tour extras. US Dollars are widely accepted, but note that they wouldn't take bills from 2006; they only accepted 2013 or later. If you have old bills, check the year before you go! 💡 Free Carts & Clean Toilets Look for free golf carts in areas like Old Doha Port; just flag them down and they’ll give you a lift. Toilets are available everywhere, free of charge, and are kept very clean. Visit Date: October 2026 Flight Tickets Guide

That’s right, this country is Bahrain. Before coming to Bahrain, I knew nothing about it. The travel guides I found described it only as the "Backyard of the Middle East" and the "Pearl of the Persian Gulf," with little else to say. But after setting foot in Bahrain, I unexpectedly found it more interesting than I imagined. Compared to the conservatism of Saudi Arabia, just across the bridge, Bahrain is more secular and chill for travelers. ▫️ 🚗 Transportation: We crossed into Bahrain by land from Dammam. You can choose between a bus or a private car. The bus tickets are purchased and boarded at Dammam International Bus Station. There are two buses to Bahrain daily, at 8 AM and 5 PM, costing 145 SAR round trip. The trip from Dammam station to Manama bus station takes about 2 hours. 🎫 Visa: Bahrain offers visa on arrival. For land crossing, just pay 5 Bahraini Dinars at the window. 💰 Currency: The Bahraini Dinar is one of the highest-valued currencies, similar to the Omani Rial, both around 1:19 exchange rate. 🌞 Climate: Similar to Saudi Arabia, it’s very hot before October. Traveling between November and February is much more comfortable. ▫️ 1⃣️ Bahrain Gate & Old Market: The landmark of Manama. The market is full of souvenirs. There’s a café called Haji’s Café, which is said to be a must-visit in Bahrain. We had dinner there and it was good. 2⃣️ Bahrain Fort: A historical site currently under renovation, so you can’t go inside, but you can stroll around outside. 3⃣️ Al-Fateh Grand Mosque: Said to have the largest dome in the Middle East. It’s recommended to avoid visiting during local prayer times, as entry is not allowed then. 4⃣️ Bahrain National Museum: The museum has many exhibits and an art gallery. Located by the port, you can enjoy views of the harbor here. 5⃣️ Pearl Diving Museum: Bahrain prospered because of pearls. The museum itself has few exhibits, but its location by the Persian Gulf is the highlight. The boardwalk and beach outside are my personal hidden gems in Bahrain. 6⃣️ Manama Viewpoint: From here, you can see Bahrain’s landmark—the World Trade Center, which is also the world’s first building equipped with wind turbines. 7⃣️ The Avenue: A fairly large mall that’s great for shopping, with various clothing, cosmetics, and food options. 8⃣️ Corniche: The seaside promenade outside The Avenue. Walking along it offers distant views of Manama’s various landmark buildings. 9⃣️ Block 338: Here you’ll find the “I love Manama” sculpture. It’s also a well-known food district in Bahrain.
