Botanical Garden

This botanical garden was founded in 1974 on the right bank of the Rhine and is run by the University of Heinrich-Heine. More than 6000 different plants are displayed in the botanical garden. Plants are divided according to geographic areas: including plants from Central Europe, Northeast Asia, Japan, and China. There are also wasteland, swamp plants, pine forests, fruit trees and wild flowers that live in different natural environments. In addition, there are special exhibition areas for medicinal plants, volcanic soil plants, and endangered plants. There is a dome greenhouse in the botanical garden, which grows about 400 carnivorous plants from the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, Australia, New Zealand, and can maintain a warm climate of 12-15 degrees Celsius in winter.
