Blackness Castle

The Dark Castle was built in the 15th century for the then most powerful Crichtons in Scotland, in the small town of Blackness, in the north west of Edinburgh. The Dark Castle was used as a royal castle, building and armoury. In recent years, the castle has been restored and opened to the public. It has been a location for many well-known films, including Hamlet (1990), The Bruce (1996), BBC TV drama Ivanhoe (1997), and the science fiction film Doomsday (2008). The Dark Castle is also called the “Never-Going Boat” because it looks like a huge stone boat. From the castle you can enjoy the beautiful views of the bay around.

A 15th-century fortress with maze-like rooms, staircases and courtyards and interesting history, the castle is situated on the shore, close to the quaint and beautiful Blacks village, and has been the location for many film and television productions.

The courtyard of the dark castle has steep spiral staircases and exposed rocks, and the views on the city walls are great and the history is rich. The castle is in a good place, and for centuries the dark castle has not been used as a living residence, and the military role is large to defend the Gulf of Forth.

Because of the crustal extrusion, the lava tube in the ground is extruded from the ground and collapsed. After the magma flows out of the lava, it is combined with air, water and the Mihu next to it, which forms the current appearance, so each rock is not the same shape.
