It was said that there was a danger of falling rocks and high waves in bad weather, but I was blessed with fine weather and was able to drive refreshingly. I was able to feel the steep cliffs, the azure sea, and the magnificent nature of Hokkaido. I was worried that it would take a lot of effort and budget to maintain and repair several tunnels, sea revetments, and cliff rockfall prevention work.
If you go from Cape Erimo toward Obihiro, you will run on this golden road. It means that this road has come to be called the Golden Road because it required a lot of funds to renovate many tunnels and roads on the cliffs.
It is a road with only tunnels, probably to prevent traffic from being closed due to bad weather. There are places that run along the coastline, but there is no feeling of "golden road", it feels like just a road.
I ran from the Hiroo side. It is a road with many curves, cover roads, and tunnels, but the traffic was not so much, and the view of the coastline under fine weather was wonderful. The cliffs that fall into the Pacific Ocean are spectacular. But when the sea is timing up due to bad weather, it's a road you don't want to run.
Many tunnels
The old street was certainly much more visible. Now you're driving through many tunnels. However, it's a great tour to Erimo!
Sea, cliffs, cliffs and tunnels

A road made with a lot of money!

It took money, didn't it?
