First, if you want to sit at the seaside view bar, be prepared to wait for over an hour. I came on a weekday and had to wait about an hour and a half to get a seat. You can get a ticket from the machine first, but note that there are two types of tickets: indoor and outdoor. If you end up sitting indoors, I suggest not waiting in line; you can easily find a good seafood bowl (kaisendon) restaurant anywhere in Japan! Seafood Bowl Set ¥2265 The overall taste is average, nothing particularly outstanding. If you're not here for the sea view, I suggest not wasting your time here. #japantrip What's everyone up to on these weird days between Christmas🎄and New Years? 🎉 Yesterday evening we visited the Enoshima Winter Illuminations. We loved the lights and walked up the hill to the illumination, first passing some food stands selling different treats including squid 🦑 on a stick! We decided to walk up the stairs to the shrines and illuminations, but you also have the option to take a few escalators for a fee. At the top we enjoyed the lights and decided to pay 500 yen, per adult, and 250 yen, per child, to see the beautiful lights inside the historic Samuel Cocking Gardens. It was gorgeous! We didn't pay a little extra to go up inside the tall Enoshima Candle tower. If you go, here's what to expect 👀 ... Enoshima is connected to the mainland by a bridge and is divided roughly into a town and a forested hill. The town area has numerous restaurants, onsen town, and gift shops. The forest area contains several shrines, a small botanical garden, caves, and an observation tower. On a clear day, especially in November-February, the west side of the island offers some breathtaking views of Mount Fuji across the ocean. I recommend going before sunset on a clear day! 🚗 There are 3 parking lots available on the island... 📍 Enoshima Nagisa Parking Area (we used this one, it was about 400 yen per hour) 📍 Enoshima Kamome Parking Lot 📍 Shonan Port Rinko Road Attached Parking Lot ** All three parking lots accept only yen for payments ** 💴 🚆 It's a 25-minute walk from Shonan- Enoshima Station on the Shonan Monorail. It's a 25-minute walk from Enoshima Station on the Enoden Line. ...Inside the Samuel Cocking Gardens you'll find food trucks, restaurants and a free large white bouncing pad for kids ages 3-6! It's a romantic summer destination that's been a favorite in many novels and TV dramas, with a dreamy and therapeutic presence. ⛺【Must-Visit Locales】: Kamakura High School Front, Hase-dera Temple, Shichirigahama Beach, Enoshima, and the Great Buddha of Kamakura. 🛬【Travel Tips】: On the first day, depart from Tokyo and take the JR to Fujisawa Station. A highly recommended travel tip for visiting Kamakura is to take the seaside train from Fujisawa to Hase Station. This stunning seaside route is only a 10-minute journey, so make the most of this healing moment. Back at Kamakura High School Station, check in at the classic train section from the anime Slam Dunk. In the afternoon, take a stroll at Shichirigahama Beach, where surfers ride the waves all year round, and then visit Enoshima to watch the sunset from the hill. Enoshima has many atmospheric alleys and streets. On the second day, take the JR to Hase-dera Temple to check in. Summer is the season for hydrangeas, and the temple's hydrangeas are as picturesque as they are in comics. Also, don't miss the Great Buddha of Kamakura. If you have time, take the JR to visit Hachimangu Shrine in North Kamakura. 🏨【Accommodation Tips】: Staying at a guesthouse hotel near Fujisawa will be cheaper, with prices starting at over 300 yuan per night. Off-season seaside guesthouses are also available for 300-500 yuan. 🧡【Tips】: For the seaside train, it's recommended to purchase an Enoden one-day pass, as you'll also need to take the train back from Hase Station to Shichirigahama Beach, which is more cost-effective with the JR. The entrance fee for Hase-dera Temple is 400 yen, and the hydrangea path is 500 yen.

As part of our itinerary for our Japan 2024 trip, we wanted to explore nearby cities to Tokyo and decided to visit Enoshima and Fujisawa. These places are not very far away from Tokyo and you could get there by buying the day pass. The day pass is useful as it allows unlimited travel within the designated area. We arrived at Enoshima first to visit the Enoshima Aquarium. The aquarium itself is quite huge but some of the enclosures were closed due to renovation (what a pity). Nonetheless, it was still worth the visit. We also managed to spot Mt. Fuji from Enoshima Aquarium, which was an awesome opportunity thanks for the fabulous weather on that day! We then headed to the nearby island (Enoshima Island) which was a walking distance from Enoshima Aquarium. The iconic structure on this island is the Enoshima Sea Candle. We had to climb steps to get to the viewpoint. There is also a small entrance fee to enter the sea candle park but we didn’t proceed as it was daytime when we visited. It’ll be prettier at night in our opinion. We didn’t get to visit Fujisawa in the end but there are plenty of temples in Fujisawa for those who are interested in visiting.
