National Geographic didn't deceive me, the ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River that has been severely underestimated
On a misty morning, after several twists and turns, I finally arrived at this long-cherished, tranquil, and niche ancient town.
This is the birthplace of blue and white porcelain; as I watched the drone pass through the clouds, the screen overflowed with shades of blue and green, I thought, the azure color waiting for the misty rain described by Fang Wenshan in his writings could only belong to this place.
The ancient town is called Yaoli, formerly known as 'Yao Li', which is the cradle of Jingdezhen ceramics. The phrase 'After the rain, the sky clears where the clouds break, such a color will be used in the future' gives the azure-colored porcelain its elegance and mystery.
Amidst the surrounding mist, the town is lush and serene, natural, and tranquil.
Ancient Huizhou-style bridges, flowing water, and households still retain their simple customs.
A winding and clear Yaoli River runs through the town. Hundreds of Ming and Qing Huizhou-style buildings are scattered along the banks of the Yaoli River, nestled against the mountains and waters.
There are few tourists, with green mountains and clear waters, household smoke rising, presenting a scene of a paradise on earth. Whether you want to explore the profound history or experience the comfort of the water towns in the south of the Yangtze River,
I think you will like it here.

👉Travel Tips:
1️⃣Visiting Yaoli Ancient Town is free, no ticket is needed.
2️⃣The 150 yuan ticket is for the entire scenic area, which includes Yaoli Ancient Town, Wanghu, Meiling, Raonan, Gaoling, and Dongbu, five small scenic spots, each spaced 6-7 kilometers apart. To visit these spots, chartering a car is the only option.
3️⃣The ancient town is not large, and there are not many tourists. Strolling through the streets paved with bluestone in the ancient town, you can see hundreds of Ming and Qing Huizhou-style ancient buildings nestled against the mountains and waters, where time seems to flow in the river, and ancient stories seem to be blended into the ceramics.
4️⃣It is generally recommended to stay overnight in the ancient town. If you are traveling by public transport, you usually can't catch the last bus back to the city.
5️⃣If you encounter the misty rain season, be sure to get up early the next morning. The azure color waits for the misty rain, with clouds and mist swirling around, white walls and black tiles of Huizhou-style buildings, like a fairyland in a dream.
✅About food: There are two very special local foods: alkaline water rice cake and bitter gourd tofu, which have a unique taste, and almost every restaurant has them.
🏠Accommodation: There are many hotels and farmhouses in the scenic area, and if you like the original ecological environment, you can stay at Wanghu.
The night view is good, the bitter tofu is eaten for the first time, and I feel full of delicious food. The most impressive thing is the kiln site, where the ancients used water to replace the soil embryo of the porcelain with manpower. I hope that local officials will ask professionals to plan the scenic spot and make full use of the existing wooden carving ancient buildings.
The scenic spot in Yuli is very large and divided into several areas. It is very close. Students who have not had enough time to play suggest not to buy a pass! ! ! Where to go to play, you can buy a small scenic spot ticket. It is not expensive and you can choose freely. Some areas seem to have not been fully developed. It is more original and the scenery is natural.
The commercial development is not very powerful. The country roads are enjoying the beautiful scenery while playing in the water. The stream is very clear and the locals are washing vegetables and clothes. The ingredients are good so fresh, really different from the food in the city. The appearance is very dry and the taste is great! The ancient town is small, it is still very cultural, shocked by the ancient ancestral residence, and there is freedom of fireworks here.
Beautiful scenery, worth a visit, blue sky and other misty rain!
Beautiful scenery, distinctive architecture, the ancient buildings of landscape and water are integrated, showing the beautiful and varied folk culture
It’s worth a visit. It’s more original. It can be seen that it’s not carefully designed and built. It’s the original, but it’s very interesting.
The scenery of the ancient town is not bad, the night view is worth watching, not worth buying tickets. The ancient town can be visited for free. The tickets in the ancient town only contain a few special houses. The attractions outside the ancient town are far from the ancient town. Some are scattered. Shigang Shenglan is also more than 20 minutes drive from the ancient town. If you have enough time, you can go and see. Local residents' homes in the ancient town, and ordinary tourists will not take the initiative to visit. But the scenic spots marked by the tourist sign are the homes of local residents. This sign is not indicated, which makes people think it is just a celebrity's old residence. As a result, they were told that it was a family home. I was really angry at the time. I followed the guide card to an old house. Dad said that he needed tickets to enter. After showing him the tickets, we let in. Because the doors to other places in the hall were closed, I asked Dad if there was only the hall where I could visit. Dad suddenly angry with us, saying that this is his home, not an attraction at all, let us find the ticket to write the word that the ticket contains this old house; the emphasis on the guide card only indicates this place, did not say that this place can go in. Obviously, at the beginning, my father said at the door that he needed a ticket to enter. He covered his face and counted it out, and everyone was stunned. I thought that after all, it was a family home, and it was not good to disturb people. I left very embarrassed. But I was really upset. It is recommended that the scenic spot communicate with the local residents. If you refuse to visit, please remove the attraction signboard, or add a "private residence" at the entrance of the attraction.
The environment is beautiful, most of the attractions are free
