It is a temple of the Jodo sect located on the ancient highway "Katsuragi no Michi" that runs north-south through the mountains of Katsuragi and Mt. Kongo on the west side of the Nara Basin. The principal image is the seated statue of Amida Nyorai (important cultural property) made in the late Heian period, but it is known that many stone Buddhas called "Sentai Stone Buddha" are located in the precincts and the back mountain of the main hall.
