During the Sui and Tang periods, the Yi people in Dongting, Wuling, Changsha and other places migrated south to Jiangyong, integrating with the Yi people who lived in Jiangyong for a long time. During the Song and Yuan Period, due to the high-pressure policy of the court against the Yi people, many Yi people were massacred and a large number of Yi people escaped from difficulties outside, of which the escape of thousands of Yi people was the most typical. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Yi people living in the deep mountains and affected by the unrest migrated to the flat land under the mountain, forming a distribution pattern of "four major people's houses" and "four posts and nine sources". Goulan Village is now living with 13 surnames Jiang, Ouyang, Huang, He, and more than 2,900 people, which have lasted more than 40 generations and have lasted more than 1,000 years. On December 31, 2019, Goulan Village was named the third batch of "Chinese minority villages" by the National Civil Affairs Committee.
