Kaiyuan Ancient City

Kaiyuan Old Town is an ancient city with a long history and vicissitudes of life. Today, the faintly recognizable broken walls, towering ancient towers, quaint bell and drum towers, and the narrow and secluded alleys all reveal the charm of this ancient city. Since the Qin and Han dynasties, various dynasties and generations have set up high-level administrative agencies in the old city of Kaiyuan. In the late Ming Dynasty, Manchuria became more and more prosperous. In order to enhance its defense capabilities, a new brick city was built in the east of the old Tucheng, which is today's Kaiyuan Old City. The old city of Kaiyuan is square in shape, with a wall of 3.5 feet high and 13 li and 20 paces around. There are four city gates in the whole city, and there are four turrets on the city wall. The whole city building is magnificent. However, after repeated wars, the city was dilapidated until it was demolished during the Cultural Revolution. In recent years, the restoration project of the old city of Kaiyuan has been fully launched, and the main buildings in the old city have been gradually restored.
