The tip of the Karakuwa Peninsula
Drive the Karakuwa Peninsula to the tip and you will arr...
Osaki Jinja is located on the opposite bank of Oshima Island in Kesennuma at the southern end of the Karakuwa Peninsula. From the parking lot (although the number is small, there are fixed-route buses), the stairs are short and you will be in front of the hall of worship immediately. It was a mysterious building that followed the main shrine and a separate building after the hall of worship. I visited quietly.
It is a shrine at the tip of the Karakuwa Peninsula. The name of the shrine seems to come from the cape. It is said that people who pray for big fishing and marriage visit worship. Since there was a whale mound, when I examined the origin, it was said that it enshrined the spirit of the whale who saved the fishing boat from the storm. There is a culture of whaling in the Oshika Peninsula and the river in the same Miyagi prefecture, but because of its legend, it seems that whales are not caught or eaten here.
It is in the opposite direction to the visitor center. It is said that the shrine in the sea town is gathering the faith of the locals as a place to pray for the safety of voyages and large fishing. The surrounding area is well maintained and you can take a walk.
