Linzhou Honggushan Scenic Area

Honggu Mountain Scenic Area is located 13 kilometers southwest of Linzhou City, in the Xiaojie area of ​​Hejian Town. The peaks are connected in circles, and there is a deep valley in the middle. The mountains are majestic and the valley is unfathomable. There are 4 provincial key cultural relics and 2 county key cultural relics along the valley. The scenic spots and historical sites complement each other. Honggu is elegant and beautiful. Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty, Emperor Wu of Liang, Emperor Fei of the Western Wei Dynasty, Emperor Wenxuan of the Northern Qi Dynasty, etc., all chanted scriptures and meditated here. Jing Hao, a famous painter of the Five Dynasties, lived in seclusion here and was named Hongguzi. He painted tens of thousands of landscapes here. He and his disciple Guan Tong created the landscape painting school of the whole territory, which was the best landscape painting in the Tang and Song Dynasties. The works handed down from generation to generation were collected by emperors of all dynasties. Surrounding Honggu, twelve beautiful peaks stand tall, and Biyin Creek, Sandie Waterfall, Kuayu Bridge, Wusong Pavilion, Chaoyun Pavilion, etc. are dotted between the peaks and valleys. In the Ming Dynasty, the county magistrate Xie Sicong once opened a canal to divert water, benefiting 40 villages. The villagers respected him and called it Xie Gong Canal. They also built Xie Gong Temple and several steles in praise of him. Honggu Temple, built in the Northern Qi Dynasty, still has a brick tower from the Tang Dynasty. Going north of Honggu Temple and climbing the mountain, you can reach the Golden Lantern Zen Temple. The so-called Honggu Golden Lantern refers to this place. The northern cliff and southern valley are full of fun and are rare in the world.

Honggu Mountain Scenic Area is a famous mountain in Linlu Mountain in the southern Taihang Mountains, located 15 kilometers southwest of Linzhou City. Honggu Mountain Scenic Area covers an area of ​​about 10 square kilometers and is rich in tourism resources. The natural scenery of Honggu Mountain Scenic Area is very beautiful, surrounded by mountains and water, with peaks and cliffs, and green grass. There is a deep valley in the middle, and streams flow all year round. There are three waterfalls at the bottom of the valley, and the mountains and rivers fall down like a long roll of yarn. In spring, the mountain is full of yellow flowers, flowing gold and colorful; in autumn, frost hits the maple leaves, a fiery red. Honggu Mountain Scenic Area has a long history and brilliant ancient sites. Emperor Wenxuan of the Northern Qi Dynasty, Gao Yang, built Honggu Temple, and many monks have traveled and practiced Buddhism; the Qideng Temple Grottoes of the Northern Qi Dynasty were built on a cliff thousands of feet high, surrounded by white clouds, mysterious and unpredictable; the Five Dynasties landscape painter Jing Hao and his disciple Guan Quan bought several acres of land here, worked hard to make a living, and bathed in the mountain light, becoming the pioneers of landscape painting: Xie Sicong, the magistrate of the Ming Dynasty, opened a canal to divert water here and created the Linzhou water conservancy project-Xiegong Canal. It still exists now (2008). There are important cultural relics such as the Northern Wei Dynasty Moyan Stone Pagoda, Qianfo Cave Grottoes, Jindeng Temple Grottoes; Tang Dynasty Brick Pagoda; Ming Dynasty Xie Gong Canal; Qing Dynasty Xie Gong Temple and steles from various dynasties, including five provincial cultural relics and two municipal cultural relics. It is a good place for tourists to relax and travel.
