Origin of "Gaxiu": Legend has it that during the reign of King Gesar in Ling State, Gaxiu was vast and empty, with few people. Once, when the general of Ling State, Jiacha Xiagar, was on a northern expedition, he passed by Gaxiu and saw the abundant water and grass in this place. He was delighted and ordered people to pile up a pile of Ganjur stones, and left some soldiers to cultivate and guard the border. After a long period of reproduction and development, the population continued to increase and gradually prospered. According to the saying passed down from generation to generation, the people here used to call themselves "Gaxiu tribe", which means "tribe behind the Ganjur stone pile" in Tibetan. According to historical research, "Gaxiu tribe" is the descendant of "Dong" among the 18 major Tibetan surnames, and has the same surname as the "Gaxiu tribe" in Tongren County, Huangnan Prefecture, Qinghai Province at that time. It is one of the four tribes of Gatang under the jurisdiction of Tanglongtou people.
