We visited Cinque Terre on a day bus tour from Florence and despite a confusing rushed start to the morning once we were on the bus headed for La Spezia things seemed to calm down. We were able to visit 4 of the 5 villages that make up this quaint area.Taking the train from La Spezia our first stop was Monterosso. We had lunch a little beach side restaurant. Pasta because when in Italy... From there we made our backwards stopping at Vernazza where it was a short walk down to the water from the station and the first taste of the iconic fishing village vista that is synonymous with Cinque Terre. Before moving on to Manarola and finally Riomaggiore where we were able to catch the start of a beautiful sunset.There was a lot to fit in one day especially with the lengthy distance to Florence but it was worth every minute.I would definitely look to stay in or near the villages if I were to visit again. The hiking trail across the 5 villages looks very intriguing.

Parco Nazionale Cinque Terre#thingstodo We joined a group tour to see the 5 villages. They were all lovely but you really don't get enough time in each that way. I suggest staying in the area and having 2-3 days to visit them all. Or just visit one or two. We hiked between two villages and the trail and views were lovely! As was the cruise back to the starting point although were exhausted by that point. There are great local restaurants and shops in each village that are worth visiting. I am attaching a few photos from various villages we saw along the way! Cinque Terre National Park is really an unmissable point of interest if you are in Italy. It is practically five colorful fishermen towns built in the only available spots of Liguria coast, immersed into Macchia Mediterranea, grapes, olives and any kind of green growing in the national park. You can visit either by train (frequency approximately each 30 minutes), or on foot (there are trekkings connecting each of the 'Cinque Terre'). I personally prefer Riomaggiore, Manarola and Vernazza, because of the colours and the shape of their buildings. If you are in a rush and you want to have an overview of the park, the train is preferable. But I strongly recommend to walk at least from one location to the other. It was very nice to leave from Volasta (a small town over Manarola) and walk to Corniglia. It is not too heavy and you will be able to fully enjoy the atmosphere and sea view.Nada Shawky

Cinque Terre#thingstodo Beautiful every small town. One criticism was there was a disruption for the train service and they didn't even say anything and continued to sell day passes to tourist. To get from one town to another took longer than just walking and everyone is packed in the train since the crowds started to pile on. It was about an hour wait at each station. About the park: like any small village in Italy is beautiful and the water is epic but pricy as expected This was one of my favorite places we visited on our trip to Italy. We had a beautiful lunch at the edge of the cliff, walked on the beach, shopped, and enjoyed the beautiful views. Getting from town to town was easy with the train. I would recommend to stay a night here to enjoy their local culture and their outdoor activities instead of the touch and go. Their outdoor activities include boat riding, sunbathing, swim at the harbour and cliff jumping. If you are dare enough, you definitely wanted to the cliff jumping. You should also enjoy their gelato and seafood. I want to travel to Hong Kong to experience a different culture and enjoy their food.Mintymin6

As the name says, Cinque Terre consist of five villages: coming from West you got Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Hallmark to all these villages of fishermen are their colourful houses latched on cliffs that make for incredible sights you’ll never see anywhere else. One of the most valuable things here is the ability to visit all these villages thanks to a few paths and hiking trails, so you could actually walk from Monterosso, the westernmost villages to Riomaggiore, the easternmost one, and back! Nowadays the area is always packed, so plan accordingly and try to avoid car as a means of transportation, parking lots are scarce and expensive and traffic can discourage even the bravest driver! We visited Cinque Terre on a day bus tour from Florence and despite a confusing rushed start to the morning once we were on the bus headed for La Spezia things seemed to calm down. We were able to visit 4 of the 5 villages that make up this quaint area.Taking the train from La Spezia our first stop was Monterosso. We had lunch a little beach side restaurant. Pasta because when in Italy... From there we made our backwards stopping at Vernazza where it was a short walk down to the water from the station and the first taste of the iconic fishing village vista that is synonymous with Cinque Terre. Before moving on to Manarola and finally Riomaggiore where we were able to catch the start of a beautiful sunset.There was a lot to fit in one day especially with the lengthy distance to Florence but it was worth every minute.I would definitely look to stay in or near the villages if I were to visit again. The hiking trail across the 5 villages looks very intriguing.
Cinque Terre is a small and historic fishing village in northwestern Italy. Cinque Terre is now a national park in Italy. There is no lane between the Cinque Terre and only one railway and coastal pedestrian trail.
The five largest villages also have the largest beaches, but it is the pain of the pebble beach. If you don't go to the sea and don't bask in the sun, you can visit for up to an hour. There are many restaurants but they are all average. The most famous color house village, along the hill opposite the house to the mountain road to the top of the mountain is the best photo place, you can also take pictures along the way but shoot people backlight.
In Monterosso, if you go to the market, you can buy specialty food, local wine, clothes and traditional crafts; at night, the bar is full of young people. People do not need to contact with their mobile phones because they can meet at any time on the streets of the small village. On Italy's Mediterranean coast, people eat lunch and dinner late, because the summer sun doesn't go down until eight or nine. After midnight, people drink beer by the sea, play guitar and sing with unfamiliar friends.

The heavenly scenery makes people linger.
