Donskoy Monastery

The monastery is located in the residential area of the southern part of the Moskva River and was built at the end of the 16th century. It is named after a "Statue of the Virgin of the Don". In 1380, Grand Duke Dmitry of Moscow led his troops to defeat the Mongolian army on the Don River, and this very effective image of the Virgin brought a lot of good luck to the army.
