This is a stretch of the AT that you can literally walk from Inn to Inn; we had very light backpacks and, over 4 days, walked from Washington to Dalton to Cheshire to the top of Greylock to North Adam...
Challenging
We day-hiked a portion of the trail to Mount Greylock. Luckily we had good weather. This is a challenging hike. The views at the top were our reward for the hike. Nice place to have lunch and admire ...

If you go north from Rt 2 following the white blazes you cross a footbridge over the Hoosic river, up a driveway ( it’s OK, you are not trespassing), and then follow a wonderfull chuckling brook uphi...
A Cool Hike
The Trail passes through some lovely classic New England wooded areas. The hike is cool and refreshing. the terrain is not difficult to negotiate.
Just a small part of it
We ended up hiking only a small part of the trail close to the summit of Mt Graylock, but just like the other parts of the trail we have hiked, the hiking is strenuous, but the views are spectacular.
