若狭一宮下社

奈良時代の創建とされ、「海幸山幸」の山幸を祀る若狭彦神社と一対で若狭国一宮、こちらは山幸の妃の豊玉姫が祀られています。巨大な千年杉が社を守るかのように立ち、この親睦を下から見上げるように拝むそうです。上社と共に拝殿、神門、髄神門が一直線に並ぶ独特な配置も興味深いです。

見どころは上社よりもこちらの方が多い

若狭彦神社の下社、若狭姫神社。若狭彦神社と二社で若狭一宮。二社一緒に回るべきだろう。社務所はこちらに統合されているので、御朱印はこちらで二社分いただける。境内の見どころはこちらの方が多いのだが、神社としての厳かさは彦神社上社の方にある。
