Kata Beach(Hat Kata)

Kata Beach is located on the west coast of southern Phuket, just south of Karon Beach, making it a convenient next stop after visiting Karon Beach. In terms of size, Kata Beach is considerably smaller than Patong Beach and Karon Beach. Though not very long, it boasts soft sand, crystal-clear water, and gentle waves, making it perfect for swimming and diving, attracting many visitors who prefer tranquility. The Kata area is predominantly frequented by European and American tourists, with many lounging lazily on beach chairs all day. At the northern end of the beach, there's a small coral reef that offers excellent diving opportunities. Additionally, the rocky outcrops at both ends of the beach provide unique photo opportunities.

Scenic viewpoints with breathtaking views

Atop the southern mountain lies an excellent viewpoint (Karon Viewpoint), offering panoramic views of the three bays—Kata Noi, Kata Yai, and Karon Beach—on clear days, which is precisely the famous scenery featured on Phuket postcards. This spot is also one of Phuket's ideal locations to admire the sunset. However, the mountain road leading to the viewpoint is quite rugged, so it's recommended to take a vehicle, approximately a 3.5 km ride.

Food and wine

Small vendors selling food, drinks, and various supplies can be found along Kata Beach. They maintain cleanliness around their stalls, keeping the beach environment relatively tidy. The area also features many small restaurants, mostly Western-style, offering local delicacies and fresh seafood with a charming coastal town vibe.

At the southern end of the beach is a bar street, but it's not as rowdy as Patong. The drinks here are relatively light in flavor, with more laid-back background music, including spots like Ska Bar andAfter Beach BarIt's quite famous. Compared to Patong and Karon, Kata Beach generally has higher prices for dining and shopping.
