Rhode Island State House is the world's premier dome-style building, and is also home to the governor of Rhode Island, the state Senate and the state House of Representatives. It is worth seeing both the majestic and exquisite architectural decorations, and the history and politics of Rhode Island.
Located just north of downtown Providence, the Rhode Island State Capitol is home to the state legislature and the governor's office, built between 1895 and 1904, a neoclassical building with 9,300 cubic meters of marble and the dome ranked fourth in the world. Rhode Island is the smallest state in the United States, with an area of only 4,000 square kilometers. The size of a small state with such a large parliament building is a sign of the state's extraordinary capabilities.
