Non-Catholic Cemetery

This place is said to have a very special story, because it is the only place in Rome where no Catholics are buried, so it is full of history, many of the tombs are genuine masterpieces, and a place worth visiting.

Protestant cemetery is a burial ground for non-Catholics. So it is full of history and many of the tombs are truly masterpieces. Highly recommended to find a guide, the tombs and paths are clear, and the incredible variety of trees, plants and flowers provide a very natural and calm atmosphere.

Close to the towering pyramid, there is a ride next to it, and the cemetery seems to be a bit out of place. But there are many celebrity tombstones, including some national heroes, such as Morrissey. The wall next to the quiet environment is also quite distinctive. If you have extra time to see the pyramid, you can come here for a walk.

It might seem a bit macabre to visit a cemetery on vacation, but this one is anything but gloomy. It's more a walk through history in a lush, green environment. There's people from all over buried here, right up to today. Walking between the different style head stones is an experience in itself. And you can pay your respects to Goethe and Shelley if you are so inclined. Admission is free, but a 3 euro donation is encouraged.
