📍Shanghai|1933 Old Millfun
The light hits the thick industrial-style cement walls, the unique Basilica-style architecture, every corner seems to be a never-boring scenery, a casual shot is a very artistic photo...
📸Photo check-in:
🔸Umbrella column: The most eye-catching detail element of the outer ring of the building is a 'umbrella column' divided into octagonal and quadrilateral, large on top and small on bottom, with pattern decoration. The whole building is a beamless roof design, supported by these 300 umbrella columns
🔸Cattle Road: The cattle road is specially designed for the separation of people and livestock. Any livestock that walks up this ramp is on a one-way street, and you can still see heavy hoof prints on the mottled ground. The ground of the ramp is very rough, which is a specially designed anti-slip technique for easy animal walking
🔸Central Circle: The inner circle of the main building is also called the 'central circle', with three floors, which was the slaughterhouse workshop before. There are numerous bridges of different widths here, and cattle of different sizes pass through here in turn
🔸Spiral staircase: The steps on the side of the corridor are extremely narrow and spiral upwards, which is the escape route for workers. These passages are only one person wide, and livestock cannot enter, they are specially built to avoid livestock injuries
🔸Hollow cement lattice window: The window lattice is arranged alternately with squares and circles. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, it also has necessary ventilation functions. A large area of hollow cement lattice windows can also create very beautiful light and shadow effects

🎞️1933 Old Millfun was originally the slaughterhouse of the Shanghai Ministry of Works, designed by the famous British designer Balfours, it was the first in East Asia and the third large-scale slaughterhouse in the world at that time. The architecture blends Eastern and Western characteristics, the buildings are staggered up and down, the corridors are winding, the structure is complex, but orderly, and advanced architectural techniques such as 'beamless roof', 'umbrella column', 'rotating ramp' are used. Now, more than eighty years ago, the slaughterhouse has transformed into a business circle + literary circle, with many catering, entertainment, education and design companies settled in, forming a diversified cultural and entertainment ecological circle. 'Tiny Times' was filmed here.

This ugly and imposing building once housed the Shanghai Municipal Council Slaughterhouse, the largest slaughterhouse in Shanghai at the time. Today it has been repurposed as a unique creative park and arts space where visitors can browse the many shops, restaurants, cafes, studios and workspaces.

Come to the old field square in 1933 to check in. After checking in, I searched for nearby food to find a place to eat, and found such a place. As a loyal fan of old friends, how could you miss this restaurant? After entering, I feel that it is very different from the decoration in Guangzhou. I don't know if it is a family, but the big window is quite good. Beautiful nearby
awesome place, so interesting geometry of buildings

The old field square is strategically located, close to Sichuan Road Commercial Street, the whole building combines East and West characteristics, the building space layout is strange, the four-square factory area surrounded by four buildings in the southeast and northwest is connected by stairs with the middle of a 24-sided main building. The exterior and interior round building structure, crisscrossed covered bridge, with spiral ladder, umbrella style, create a maze-like effect, surprising.
